But what we feel truly sets us apart is the innovative “pick up and raid” philosophy we propose — a fresh twist on the MMO formula that makes the epic scale of raid gameplay instantly accessible.
Instead of requiring the long hours, tight schedules, and razor-sharp coordination typical of traditional MMO raids, 33 Immortals delivers that same sense of grandeur and teamwork in fast, digestible bursts. It’s an idea that bridges the gap between casual co-op fun and the awe-inspiring spectacle of a full-scale raid — offering a rare kind of experience for players who crave intensity without the commitment.
We have launched a handful of smaller updates since March, but the latest one represents a major evolution. The latest update to 33 Immortals (available right now!) marks one of our most ambitious expansions yet, bringing new weapons, mechanics and customization options to the Beyond. The Pride and Temperance Update explores two contrasting virtues – exuberance and restraint – through new gameplay systems that reward both boldness and precision.
Alongside these additions, we are launching a community contest featuring two custom 33 Immortals-branded Xbox consoles (Series X) and other exclusive prizes. New Weapons: Pride and Temperance
Two long-awaited weapons make their debut: the Crossbows of Pride and the Glaive of Temperance. Each offers a distinct playstyle inspired by its symbolic virtue and its animal counterpart – the peacock and the crane.
The Crossbows of Pride are a pair of rapid-fire ranged weapons built for players who value precision and style. Their defining ability, Brand, marks enemies so that subsequent hits deal double damage. Landing hits on branded targets also generates Pride, which can be spent to unleash a spectacular volley of bolts. From their vivid animations to their confident, showman-like stances, the Crossbows embody the vibrant elegance of the peacock – graceful, proud and deadly in skilled hands.
In contrast, the Glaive of Temperance rewards patience and control. Drawing inspiration from the crane, this mid-range melee weapon requires careful resource management and timing. Players must balance their Temperance – a special meter that powers the glaive’s strikes. Dropping below half reduces damage significantly, but using the weapon’s Backstep ability restores balance and strength. The Glaive of Temperance is about restraint: those who strike deliberately, rather than recklessly, will find its true potential.
New Challenges: Ordeals and Agony
For those seeking greater difficulty, the update introduces a new system of Ordeals and Agony levels. Players at Feat Level 10 or higher can now equip Ordeals – modifiers that enhance enemies and increase risk in exchange for better rewards. As you complete boss encounters with Ordeals active, you’ll progress through increasingly punishing tiers of Agony, each offering both powerful buffs and greater danger. Reaching the highest Agony Level and surviving its trials will yield Legendary rewards for the most fearless Immortals.
New Chamber Objectives
To bring more variety to encounters in the Beyond, Torture Chambers now feature randomized objectives. In addition to the classic “Clear” objective, two new types have been added: Capture, where players must reclaim Seals of Damnation from enemies, and Destroy, which tasks you with eliminating Effigies of Submission scattered across the arena. Success will summon the chamber’s Elite enemies and pave the way forward, while failure will force you to regroup and try again.
Armor Break and Combat Adjustments
Combat depth has also been expanded with the new Armor Break mechanic, replacing the former Stun system. Certain enemies now possess an Armor bar that must be broken with Heavy Attacks before their health can be damaged directly. This change gives Heavy Attacks a more strategic role in combat, encouraging thoughtful timing and deliberate build choices. Related Perks and Relics have been updated accordingly, and players can experiment with these changes using the new armored dummy found in Dark Woods.
Feat Level 15 and New Rewards
The ceiling for progression has been raised to Feat Level 15, unlocking the Crown of Immortality and Cape of Immortality. These prestigious cosmetics stand as a testament to your mastery and resilience within the Beyond.
Customization and Expression
Since this update celebrates both Pride and individuality, new customization options have been added to let players express themselves. You can now collect Illuminations – visual effects that personalize your End of Run screen – available through boss chests, Feats, Daily Quests or from Charon’s shop. In addition, twelve new Epic Animated Emotes have been introduced, adding an extra layer of personality to your interactions throughout the world.
