Respawn Entertainment has opened a third development studio as part of its plans to make its free-to-play battle royale title Apex Legends a “10, 15 years or more” franchise. As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, Respawn’s newest studio – which will operate alongside existing teams in Sherman Oaks, California and Vancouver, British Columbia – is based in Madison, Wisconsin, and run by former Epic Games director of engine production Ryan Burnett. Respawn Wisconsin will predominantly be focussed on supporting the development of Apex Legends’ live service operations, although it may also contribute to other projects in the future. After a tiny tease last week, Paradox Interactive has properly unveiled Life by You, a new open-world life simulator that’s launching into PC early access on 12th September. Developed by Paradox Tectonic – the studio headed by Rod Humble, former Sims boss and CEO of Second Life studio Linden Labs – Life by You’s marketing immediately slings shade in the direction of The Sims 4, describing the title as a game that’ll let players “create humans and live out their lives without loading screens”. Today brings a look at even more new characters set to debut in Pokémon’s retooled anime series, including a group who seem set to be its new villains. With Team Rocket seemingly written out of the series alongside Ash and Pikachu, the stage is set for another faction to bother the show’s already-introduced trio of heroes (and new mascot Captain Pikachu). Step forward the “Explorers”, as they’re being referred to in Japan. Members of this group include Amejio, a mysterious figure whose partner Pokémon is Paldean creature Ceruledge. Further details of 2K Games’ unannounced Lego racing game have appeared online, this time accompanied by an official-sounding title and a set of screenshots. The project is apparently titled Lego 2K Drive, and reportedly features short “Mario Kart-style” races where your vehicle changes automatically across terrain while driving. Images posted to reddit show courses with various Lego themes, such as a race through a spooky biome, and an area that looks like the Wild West. Krafton has outlined its 2023 PUBG roadmap. Lost Ark’s newest update, The Art of War, is now live. The update not only includes the new advanced class, The Artist, but also Tulubik Battlefield, where players “have the chance to determine the fate of Rowen and earn rewards in 48v48 Realm versus Realm matches”. ZA/UM has released a new “Collage Mode” for Disco Elysium. The brand-new mode – which is out now on PC, and coming to consoles “over the coming days” – gives players “full access to characters, environments, effects, and custom dialogue to create the screenshots that they have always desired”.
