Valve has announced the first-ever official discount for its fabulous handheld gaming PC, Steam Deck, alongside the launch of Steam Deck startup movies on the Steam Points Shop. Starting with that discount, Valve is slashing the price of Steam Deck – that is, of all three models across all shipping regions – by 10%. That means UK resident can currently pick up the 64GB model for £314.10, the 256GB model for £413.10, and the 512GB model for £512.10. Splash Damage – the UK studio behind the likes of Brink and Gears Tactics – has shared early details of its latest title, currently being referred to by the codename Project Astrid. Final Fantasy 15 director is now gamifying Japan’s business economy with the metaverse
Hajime Tabata, director of Final Fantasy 15 and former Square Enix employee, is working on a metaverse project named Ryugukoku. Tabata, now the Web 3.0 advisor for the Japanese Government’s Digital Agency, has created the concept of “updating Japan through the power of games” and is creating an “open metaverse infrastructure from a role-playing game perspective”. Minecraft’s cross-platform Bedrock Edition is now available to play via your ChromeOS browser. This early access version is currently being rolled out to certain Chromebook devices to test how it works on various pieces of hardware. The Sims 4 received its free Infant update earlier this week, which saw a brand new life stage added to the base game. However, if you will excuse the unintentional pun, there have been some teething issues with this update, and several Simmers have noticed their adorable babies aging up into long-legged monstrosities. Criterion and EA have unveiled Need for Speed Unbound: Volume 2, a free content update coming to all platforms next Wednesday, 21st March. Jeremy Irvine, known for roles in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Treadstone and War Horse, has been cast as James in Return to Silent Hill. The upcoming Silent Hill 2 film adaptation will follow James, a man described as being “broken after being separated from his one true love”. Horizon Forbidden West developer tries to explain why Burning Shores DLC is PlayStation 5 only
Game director Mathijs de Jonge has promised Horizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shores DLC will fully embrace the “power” of the PlayStation 5, in a bid to explain why the add-on is exclusive to Sony’s newer console.
