Everyone’s excited for the upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake – but there’s another reimagining of Capcom’s survival horror classic to look out for. The hugely-talented animator Cara Aleatorio has recreated Resident Evil 4’s opening in digital Lego, in a polished and surprisingly authentic homage. The messy saga of Disco Elysium studio ZA/UM – which has been embroiled in a series of legal tussles relating to the involuntary departure of key team members in 2021 – has reached a new milestone, with the company announcing several of those lawsuits have now been resolved. It’s a story that first made headlines last October, when ZA/UM founder Martin Luiga claimed Disco Elysium designer Robert Kurvitz, writer Helen Hindpere, and art director Aleksander Rostov had been fired following the company’s takeover by Estonian businessmen Ilmar Kompus (now ZA/UM CEO), and Tõnis Haavel, previously convicted of investment fraud. Developer Heart Machine has shared a first gameplay trailer for Hyper Light Breaker – its fully 3D rogue-lite follow-up to 2016’s acclaimed Hyper Light Drifter – alongside the news it’ll be entering Steam early access some time this autumn. Hyper Light Breaker, which was unveiled last March, trades its predecessor’s wonderfully explorable top-down, 2D world in favour of a “vast, ever-changing” 3D landscape – blending handcrafted and procedurally generated elements – known as the Overgrowth. Here, amid open biomes and deep labyrinths, players (working solo or with up to three friends) can deploy a mix of acrobatic abilities – wall-dashing,…

Following reports that E3 2023 would be a no-show for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo, Microsoft has confirmed it won’t have a show floor presence at this year’s event – although its recently announced online showcase will be part of an E3-branded week of digital shows. News that the big three console manufacturers would be skipping this year’s E3 – set to be held between 13th and 16th June – was first reported by IGN in January. One month later, Nintendo confirmed its absence, saying, “We approach our involvement in any event on a case-by-case basis [and] this year’s E3 show…

CD Projekt has released a new patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, addressing a number of issues affecting the game’s troubled next-gen upgrade. The Witcher 3’s long-in-the-works next-gen update finally arrived late last year, but was plagued by reports of technical issues and poor performance on both PC and consoles. CD Projekt’s first big stab at remedying these problems arrived in February’s 4.01 patch, but, despite some progress, issues persisted. As Digital Foundry noted, for example, while PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X saw some performance improvements in their 30fps ray-tracing mode, 60fps Performance Mode had somehow ended up…
