Whilst God of War Ragnarok secured seven awards at this week’s DICE Awards, From Software’s Elden Ring took home the coveted Game of the Year prize. God of War Ragnarok beat out the competition in the Outstanding Achievement in Animation, Outstanding Achievement in Art Director, Outstanding Achievement in Character, Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition, Outstanding Achievement in Audio Design, Adventure Game of the Year, and Outstanding Achievement in Story. Blood Bowl 3 may have only just been released, but it’s already getting a kicking on Steam. Cyanide Studio’s latest instalment comes eight years after Blood Bowl 2, but it seems as though some players don’t think it’s been worth the wait. Right now, the self-proclaimed “iconic death sport” boasts a “Mostly Negative” aggregate rating on Steam – that’s a 73 per cent disapproval rate – amassed from almost 800 players. “I love Blood Bowl, but this game is a mess,” said one unhappy player. Sony’s brand new PlayStation VR2 is being delivered to people’s homes this week, but it’s not all been plain sailing for early adopters. A lengthy thread on the PSVR reddit lists numerous complaints with the gadget’s right Sense controller – and specifically with its buttons not responding. The thread suggests the issues with the controller are software related – and that, at times, button prompts from the right-handed device can be fixed by trying a few workarounds. As someone finally coming to terms that my Genshin Impact playtime is probably in the thousands of hours now, not hundreds, I understood Honkai: Star Rail’s systems as soon as they were introduced. Although it bears the Honkai brand (technically the fourth in the series, but this one is set in an alternate universe), Star Rail feels more like a sci-fi sequel to Genshin than another dive into Honkai lore. The Ukrainian government wants to ban Atomic Heart from digital stores in Ukraine. Alex Bornyakov, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation, plans to send an official letter to Sony, Microsoft and Valve to request the ban. The news follows controversies around Mundfish and its game, previously outlined by Eurogamer, of which more have arisen now the game has been released. Following a report in January that Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony would all be skipping this year’s efforts to revitalise a flagging E3, Nintendo has confirmed it won’t be attending the show. In a statement provided to VentureBeat, Nintendo explained, “We approach our involvement in any event on a case-by-case basis and are always considering various ways to engage with our fans. Since this year’s E3 show didn’t fit into our plans, we have made the decision to not participate. UPDATE 20.25pm: Following a bit of a prickly day for developer Larian and Baldur’s Gate fans, the studio has offered further clarification on its decision to focus on a PlayStation version of Baldur’s Gate 3 ahead of Xbox, saying it’s “had an Xbox version…in the works for some time” but that it’s “run into some technical issues”.
