Developer IronOak Games has teased a little more of For the King 2 – the sequel to its wonderful tabletop-RPG-meets-digital-board-game adventure – with its latest trailer revealing a handful of new features including landboats and recruitable pets. The original For The King was a bit of a treat, blending familiar RPG staples – dungeon crawling, questing, turn-based exploration and combat, loot acquisition, and so on – into a light-hearted, optionally co-operative rogue-like adventure with some neat story generation through its myriad randomised narrative events. Much of that core remains in place in For The King 2, but the sequel -…
Square Enix has pledged to finally address issues affecting its wonky Chrono Cross remaster, known as The Radical Dreamers Edition, in a new patch arriving this month – almost a year after its initial release on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch. Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition launched last April, offering players a gentle remaster of Square’s dimension-hopping 1999 PlayStation JRPG Chrono Cross, in which a teenage boy named Serge finds himself in an alternate reality where he died as a child. While the game itself has been celebrated over the years – Eurogamer contributor Edwin Evans-Thirwell called it an…
Bloober Team has announced a June launch window for Layers of Fear – the Layers of Fear 1 & 2 remake formally known as Layers of Fears – and shared a new trailer to coincide with the news. Layers of Fear is being co-developed with Anshar Studios, and sees the original Layers of Fear, its Inheritance DLC, and Layers of Fear 2 rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 for a spot of new-gen shininess, and reimagined as a single, generations-spanning “psychedelic horror chronicle”. The first Layers of Fear game, which released back in 2016, charted the story of a painter on…
Soviet city-builder PC game Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic has been struck by a DMCA copyright violation issued by an angry fan. The Last of Us episode six, known as “Kin”, reunites us with Joel and Ellie as they continue their search for Tommy and the Fireflies. After a definite pick up in action and episode five’s emotional finale, episode six reverts back to a slightly slower pace of storytelling with a heavier focus on character development and world building. The bulk of the episode once again uses Naughty Dog’s source material as a flexible framework – it remains true to the game’s core narrative, but adjusts and embellishes certain aspects of its story. PUBG: Battlegrounds’ Patch 22.1 is here for PC players, and as well as ushering in a number of fixes and QoL improvements, it’s bringing something else, too: bears. That’s right. Just as we’re recovering from the grizzlies in Elden Ring, PUBG: Battlegrounds publisher Krafton is welcoming a “lumbering pack of malice”, too – polar bears. “Bears have moved onto Vikendi’s icy battlegrounds but they’re sheltering from the blizzard and hibernating for winter,” the team teases. “Players can invade their caves for valuable loot, but we all know what happens when you poke a sleeping bear.” Read more Source – eurogamer.net…

Rainbow Six Siege Year 8 Season 1 “addresses mouse and keyboard on consoles” and voice chat toxicity
Ubisoft has peeled back the lid on Rainbow Six siege’s Year 8 Season 1, Operation Commanding Force, which introduces new features, a new Operator, and “further anti-toxicity measures”. The new season also ushers in the game’s all-new Mousetrap feature, which means players jumping onto console when using a mouse and keyboard will “activate a penalty that adds lag to their inputs”. “The goal of this penalty is to encourage fair gameplay by removing the unfair advantage that mouse and keyboard players have on consoles,” Ubisoft explains. “While active, continued use of mouse and keyboard gradually increases the lag over several…
