AMD’s Ryzen 7000X3D gaming-focused processors finally have a release date – or rather, two release dates. The Ryzen 9 7900X3D and 7950X3D will debut on February 28th, with the 7800X3D arriving on April 6th. AMD announced prices for its new CPUs too, with the eight-core 7800X3D at $449, the 12-core 7900X3D at $599 and the 16-core 7950X3D at $699. For context, the original eight, 12 and 16-core Ryzen 7000 models have MSRPs of $399, $549 and $699, respectively, so this is at most a $50 premium in terms of MSRP – although of course retail prices have dropped significantly since…
Following EA’s announcement that it’s ending development on Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile, it’s been reported the publisher has also cancelled an unannounced single-player game set in the Titanfall/Apex Legends universe. That’s according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who, citing three people familiar with the matter, says the Respawn-developed game – internally known by the code-named TFL or Titanfall Legends – was being helmed by creative director Mohammad Alavi until he left the studio in 2021 to pursue what he called his “next adventure”. Prior to his departure, Alavi had confirmed he was working on a “brand-new Respawn single-player adventure”,…
James Gunn’s new plan to unify DC universe includes labelling non-canon games as DC Elseworlds
Freshly-installed DC Studios co-chief James Gunn has laid out his plan for the future of DC Comics’ movie, TV and video game adaptations, and a vision to unify much of the brand’s forthcoming output into a single MCU-style continuity. In a video statement posted to Twitter, Gunn laid out a series of films and TV series which will form the official DC Universe, or DCU, storyline and tie-in to one another. Gunn also addressed the various DC projects which will still be made, but set outside the canon DCU timeline. These will be “clearly labelled” as such, and given the…
As part of its latest Behind the Sims presentation, EA announced The Sims 4’s new infant update will be making its squishy arrival on 14th March. When this update goes live, it will bring with it an entirely new life stage, and a host of new activities and interactions for players and their little bundles of joy. Yes, after a brief spell of babyhood (the developers obviously don’t want to corrupt any pre-existing save files), we will have the infant stage. At last, babies won’t spend their pre-toddler days being immobile objects bound to a bassinet. Soon, other sims across…
Capcom is making a number of changes to Resident Evil 4 Remake from the original, including a tweak to companion character Ashley Graham. Previously, Ashley had her own health bar and could be carried off by enemies. Now, according to new details from Game Informer (via IGN), she will no longer have a health bar. Instead, if she takes too much damage, Ashley will be in a “downed state” and will need to be revived; if hit in this state she will die. Iron Galaxy Studios has announced its free-to-play “brawler royale” game Rumbleverse is shutting down on 28th February, a little over six months after launch. Iron Galaxy first announced Rumbleverse toward the end of 2021, describing the 40-person, melee-focused battle royale game as “big, hilarious playground where spectacular things are always happening”. It was initially due to launch last February, but ultimately didn’t arrive until 18th August, after the studio chose to delay its release in order to “perfect the experience.” Now though, just six months later, Iron Galaxy and publisher Epic Games have announced the end of Rumbleverse, confirming servers…
Developer Respawn Entertainment has announced a six week delay for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, confirming its highly anticipated action-adventure sequel will now launch on 28th April. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor – the follow-up to 2019’s well-recieved Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – was originally scheduled to launch on 17th March, but Respawn has now opted to postpone its release in order to “hit the [studio’s] quality bar”. Announcing the news in a statement shared on Twitter, the developer wrote, “For the last three years, the Jedi team here at Respawn has poured its collective heart and soul into Star Wars…
Ahead of its imminent arrival in Call of Duty: Warzone 2’s second season, Activision has given a first proper look at Ashika Island, the free-to-play shooter’s previously teased new map. Activision formally unveiled Ashika Island in a series of posts on Twitter, explaining the new “small map” will play host to both DMZ matches and the returning Resurgence mode – which ups the pace by dropping the player count to 40-50 and enabling respawns. The accompanying aerial view of Ashika Island highlights a number of key points of interest – labelled as Residential, Shipwreck, Tsuki Castle, Port Asika, Town Centre,…
Dead Space fans translate mysterious New Game Plus message, which may hint at future locations
Dead Space may have only released a few days ago, but some intrepid players have already started working their way through the remake’s New Game Plus mode. This mode offers up a variety of features, such as new phantom variant necromorphs for players to test their will against, a new suit and a secret ending. Additionally, it also brings with it new logs that players can collect and learn more about the USG Ishimura from. One of these logs, however, is described as being “indecipherable” by the game. And yet, someone has deciphered it, and now many in the Dead…
E3 2023 will not include a showfloor presence by Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft, a new report has claimed. IGN states that all three of the industry’s console makers will skip the event, putting a significant dampner on the show’s long-awaited return. E3’s annual showcase, held in June at the Los Angeles Convention Center, has long been the video game industry’s key marketing drumbeat. But recent years have seen major companies turn elsewhere due to reported disagreements with its owner, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), even before Covid stopped the show from running altogether.
