The discourse around Days Gone continues. Last week, former Days Gone director John Garvin controversially stated the reason the game didn’t receive universal acclaim was because of “woke reviewers” and reviewers who “couldn’t be bothered to actually play the game”. In addition to these unusual remarks, Garvin also threw the game’s programmers under the bus, blaming Days Gone’s “tech issues” such as “bugs, streaming and frame rate” for its middling reception. Digerati, publisher of The Outbound Ghost, has filed a lawsuit against its developer Conradical. Last week, lead developer Conrad Grindheim released a YouTube video explaining that his relationship with the publisher had “dissolved” and he was requesting the publisher return the publishing rights to him. The dispute occurred due to Grindheim’s disappointment with the quality of the console release of the game, specifically on Switch. The Witcher showrunner Lauren Hissrich has responded to The Witcher fans and insisted she has “never mocked the books” the video games and Netflix show is based upon. The furor began when writer Beau DeMayo – who’s now working on X-Men ’97 – says some of his colleagues in The Witcher’s writing room “actively mocked” the source material written by Andrzej Sapkowski. “I’ve been on show – namely Witcher – where some of the writers were not or actively disliked the books and games (even actively mocking the source material),” DeMayo said in an interview back in October. Valiant Hearts: Coming Home is coming soon to smartphones, it was confirmed tonight during The Game Awards 2022. Sifu’s previously teased free autumn update is now here, adding a nifty replay editor to developer Sloclap’s acclaimed martial arts adventure on PC and PlayStation. There’s more too, but the replay editor is undoubtedly the star of the show, giving players the tools to turn their favourite takedowns into cinematic mini-masterpieces. There are options to adjust camera placement, for instance, to define lens parameters, choreograph camera movement, and even add effects including slo-mo and speed-ups. Superb rhythm game Metal: Hellsinger has hit over a million players on PS5 and Xbox Series X and is now available on PS4 and Xbox One, too. To celebrate, developer The Outsiders has “new weapon skins to collect, combos to master, and Archdevil Mode to suffer” the latter of which is an all new brutal difficulty level.
