I’ve been into racing games from the start. The first game I ever bought was Need for Speed 2 when I was in the third grade, and I have so many fond memories playing it with my brother and dad, tap-tapping away on the arrow keys to steer sleek sportscars around opponents, corners and obstacles, racing a Ferrari F50 through the outback or a McLaren F1 somewhere pretty in Vancouver. These days, I live on another continent to the house I grew up in, I write about playing computer games for a living and everything seems to be going a…

Overwatch players have taken to social media to ask why retailers still have Overwatch on sale when the game is no longer playable. As u/raistwalls1 exemplifies on the Overwatch subreddit (thanks, TheGamer), retailers still have copies of Overwatch for both PS4 and Xbox One on sale – on this occasion, it’s priced at $34 – even though the game essentially no longer exists. If you try to run a physical copy of Overwatch now, it’ll install the game but on launch it will transfer to Overwatch 2 which, crucially, is free to play. The producer of Cyberpunk Edgerunners (and CD Projekt Red’s Japan country manager) Satoru Honma has confirmed that the anime is a “standalone work”. In an interview with Famitsu (via VGC), Honma stated that a second season was not in the works. “I personally would like to continue to work with Japanese studios to produce more anime in the future, partly because we have received very good feedback. However, just to be clear, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was planned as a standalone work, so there’s no such thing as ‘we are actually working on Season 2 in the background’,” he said. Read more…

There’s a game in my Steam library called Ryse: Son of Rome and I’m not sure how it got there. It’s been lurking for years, building itself a nest in the midden-heap of discarded indie games. I’ve never played it. I don’t think I even bought it. Not deliberately. Probably it hitched a ride with a charity bundle, but I like to think it snuck in by itself. I bring this up because I recently saw a forum post by someone who reached for their Steam Deck one day and, completely unbidden, played Ryse from start to finish. They’d had…
