Following a data breach last month, 2K has now confirmed that some personal data has been recorded. Hackers were able to gain access to the company’s support desk, impersonating official communication. The publisher is now emailing those affected, confirming that some personal data was recorded but there’s “no indication” that financial information has been compromised. Square Enix Montréal – the developer behind the likes of Hitman Go and Lara Croft Go – has rebranded as Studio Onoma following its acquisition by Embracer Group in May. Square Enix Montréal was one of three studios purchased by Embracer Group as part of a $300m USD deal with Square Enix earlier this year. Twitch has responded to its controversial decision not to amend its revenue split for streamers. At present, that split is 50/50 between Twitch and streamers, unlike key competition like YouTube that favours streamers with a 70/30 split. A streamer broke her back in two places at a reportedly unsafe stand at TwitchCon San Diego. A Zoo Tycoon board game is in development. Slated to release next year, the 2-4 player game tasks participants in building “the most successful zoo” in a new strategic and thematic board game that features over 34 species, “most of them represented by 230 beautiful animal meeples”. Voice actor Tara Strong has criticised the new Mario movie for not offering the titular role to Mario’s in-game voice actor, Charles Martinet. Announced back in 2018, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is a collaboration between Nintendo and Universal Pictures’ Illumination animation division. It sees Chris Pratt heading an all-star cast that includes Jack Black as Bowser and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach.
