This year has given us a fresh bounty of farming sims to harvest. Yesterday’s Nintendo Direct alone gave us five forthcoming farming sims: Harvestella (which now has a demo), Rune Factory 3 Special, another new Rune Factory, Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, and Fae Farm. Plus Japanese Switch Online subscribers are getting N64 game Harvest Moon 64. That’s on top of recent additions like Final Fantasy 14’s Island Sanctuary mode, the quirky Ooblets, and the just-released in early access Disney Dreamlight Valley. Mobile tech company AppLovin has scrapped its plans to buy video game engine Unity, following a failed – and unsolicited – bid last month worth $17.5bn. AppLovin announced it was backing off in a statement last night (thanks, GamesIndustry.biz), saying it had instead decided to remain on “its path as the independent market leader”. Unity rejected AppLovin’s bid within a week of it being made, and stated at the time it was “not in the best interests of Unity shareholders”. 343 Industries has confirmed its withdrawing the dedicated playlist for Halo Infinite mode Land Grab. In a brief statement about it on Halo Waypoint, 343i said that whilst it knew “many players have enjoyed this new mode”, it had been “steadily declining” and “starting to fall short of the quality bar”. Consequently, the dedicated playlist will be “rotated out” and will instead “roll into Quick Play” at the beginning of November. “On Tuesday, Sept. 20, the dedicated Land Grab playlist will be rotated out of matchmaking,” the blog post reveals. “While we know many players have enjoyed this new mode…
Following news that Like a Dragon: Ishin is coming to the West, Sega has confirmed that it is officially dropping the Yakuza name from its fan-favourite RPG series. MMO Wizard101 is taken offline after an unhappy developer filled it with angry messages
A 14-year-old MMO was temporarily taken offline after an angry ex-employee filled the game will unsanctioned messages, including complaints about pay and working conditions. As spotted by PC Gamer, Wizard101 was forced into unscheduled downtime in order to address in-game messages changed to read “this game is shit” and “dick and balls”, amongst others. “Wizard101 servers have been temporarily shut down due to an unexpected issue,” the company tweeted yesterday. “We will keep everyone updated on when they will be back up. Thank you for your patience.” Read more Source – eurogamer.net All content and images belong to their respected…
90+ screenshots and videos reportedly taken from GTA 6 have leaked online. Whilst there’s no way of authenticating them, the initially hostile response on the GTA Forums eventually softened as posters began to believe that the leaked assets were genuine. Whilst, naturally, the unfinished game has missing assets and features, the videos give a rudimentary peek at the protagonists, the open world, and even the shooter’s combat, totalling over seven minutes’ worth of unsanctioned footage. With a new Monkey Island game coming next week, we decided to get a couple of Guybrush superfans together to talk about this magical, evocative, and hilarious series. Chris Donlan: Years ago when I was at school, a friend of mine had Monkey Island on the family PC. I remember the PC was kept in the hallway, and we used to play for hours and hours into the evening. My memories of Melee Island at night are sort of mingled with the night of my friend’s house as we used to play this thing. I wonder: what are your early…

Over in Japan right about now the Makuhari Messe is thrumming, its halls filled with the hushed excitement of a Tokyo Game Show that’s approaching full swing after three years on the lowdown. It’s an odd feeling seeing it all unfurl from afar – one of the great privileges of my job in pre-pandemic years was attending the show for…
Phil Spencer wants you to know that Microsoft hasn’t “given up” on bringing Final Fantasy 14 – currently only available on Sony consoles – to Xbox. It’s been three years since Spencer first mentioned plans to bring Square Enix’s fan-favourite MMO to Xbox and while there’s been no movement, Spencer gave “a commitment” that the company was still trying to make it happen. “Hahaha, I did say that,” he laughed when asked by Game Watch if he remembered talking about it way back in 2019. Valve is showing off Steam Deck’s unreleased dock at Tokyo Game Show. Though the Steam Deck Steam page mentions the dock and still invites interested players to wishlist the item, we’ve not seen nor heard much about it since Valve began shipping its sought-after handheld system. As spotted by NME, Valve has the dock on display at Tokyo Game Show, giving fans a chance to check out the new kit and count – and argue about – those all-important ports on the back, which crucially seem to show just one USB-C port, which is for the power cable.
