Apex Legends developer Respawn has nerfed the Heat Sink skin iron sights and says it is “improving the competitive integrity of iron sights now and in the future”. Nintendo has released an update for Splatoon 3 that has fixed a number of connection errors. Since its incredibly successful launch, players have complained about connectivity issues plaguing the online multiplayer. Three more classic Mega Drive games have been added to Nintendo Switch Online for Expansion Pack members. And they are: Earthworm Jim, Alisia Dragoon, and The Story of Thor (known as Beyond Oasis in the US). Here’s a comeback we weren’t expecting: 35-year old arcade rail shooter Operation Wolf is back in action. French publisher Microids announced the imminent release of Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission, officially licensed by Taito and due out on consoles this autumn. It’s also coming to VR in 2023. All we have on this new game for now is a handful of screenshots, below, which show a new cartooney art style compared to the cult classic late-’80s arcade shooter. Respawn Entertainment head and Battlefield franchise boss Vince Zampella has spoken about the reception – and failure – of the series’ most recent entry, Battlefield 2042, suggesting it “strayed too far from” its roots. Battlefield 2042 was dogged by technical issues and controversial design decisions when it launched last year, quickly attracting overwhelmingly negative reviews from players on Steam. Sony has revealed its upcoming PSVR2 headset for PlayStation 5 won’t be compatible with games for the original PSVR. That’s according to PlayStation’s SVP of platform experience, Hideaki Nishino, speaking in the latest episode of the Official PlayStation Podcast (jump to the 29:10 mark). “PSVR games are not compatible with PSVR2,” he explained in answer to a question from the host, “because PSVR2 is designed to deliver a truly next-generation VR experience”. Following yesterday’s Street Fighter 6 closed beta announcement, Capcom has now revealed the full 18-strong character roster coming to the fighting series’ latest instalment on launch day. Previously, Capcom had confirmed 11 of the characters set to be playable in Street Fighter 6, offering a mix of familiar faces and brand-new additions. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has reiterated that Microsoft has no plans to raise the price of its consoles – after Sony stunned fans last month by hiking the price of PlayStation 5. Speaking overnight to CNBC, Spencer noted the current economic issues many were facing, and said Xbox didn’t think it “was the right move for us at this point” to follow suit. “In a time when our customers are more economically challenged and uncertain than ever, we don’t think it’s the right move for us at this point to be raising prices on our consoles,” Spencer said.
