A set of images from Dead Island 2, and the game’s apparent release date, have leaked online. A new listing (which has since seen key details removed) was spotted on Amazon last night, with the release date stated to be 3rd February, 2023. As shared by Wario64, the listing also included story details about the upcoming game. It will reportedly take place in Los Angeles, “from the verdant suburbia of Beverly Hills to the quirky promenade of Venice Beach”. If you ever want to give yourself a mild existential crisis, take a glance at the stats for your favourite game. It turns out I’ve spent a solid 40 days of my life sailing the Sea of Thieves since its launch back in 2018 (I’ll admit to that being considerably less than I was expecting), which might go someway to explaining why, four and a half years on, its vast oceanic expanse feels like a second home. Given how much of a sucker I am for a swashbuckling pirate yarn, there was a certain inevitability to my love affair with…
Embracer Group is to buy Middle-earth Enterprises, which will give the Swedish conglomerate the rights to JRR Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. In a press release, Embracer discussed its process of buying Middle-earth Enterprises, although it did not disclose the sum of this deal, citing “commercial reasons” for this decision. This deal will mean that Embracer will own the rights to motion pictures, video games, board games, merchandising, theme parks and stage productions relating to Tolkien’s works. Techland has shared a brisk tease of Dying Light 2: Stay Human’s long-awaited first story DLC, confirming it to be titled Bloody Ties – and hinting at its setting – in a tantalising new trailer. Bloody Ties – the first of two bits of story DLC so far confirmed to be on the way as part of Dying Light 2’s five year journey of post-launch support – was originally expected to launch in June but Techland eventually delayed its release to September for additional development. Much is still unknown about what it’ll bring, but we do have a few hints…
A fleeting Amazon listing has provided fresh details on New Tales from the Borderlands, the (newly monikered) Gearbox-developed follow-up to Telltale Games’ sublime 2014 episodic adventure of almost the same name, suggesting it’ll launch for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PS5, Switch, and PC on 21st October. The original Tales from the Borderlands (simultaneously both the best Borderlands title and the best Telltale game, and I’ll hear no more about it) charted the genuinely funny – and, by the time it reached its fifth-episode denouement, surprisingly touching – adventures of Hyperion employee Rhys (played by Troy Baker) and…
Ahead of Overwatch 2’s early access launch in October, Blizzard is giving existing Overwatch players the opportunity to begin merging their various Overwatch 1 accounts as part of its preparations for the sequel’s new cross-progression feature, and it’s shared an FAQ on the process so players can start the transition now. When it launches, cross-progression will enable Overwatch 2 players to access their progress and cosmetics across any platforms using a single account. Additionally, it’ll enable Overwatch 1 players to carry their existing progress and cosmetics over into the sequel, regardless of the platforms they’re currently playing on. However, to…
A change to the PC Game Pass Twitter profile picture has fans believing Death Stranding may be on the way. The image, behind the PC Game Pass logo, is of a rugged landscape very similar to the Icelandic-inspired hills of Death Stranding. While Kojima Production’s game was published by PlayStation for console release, the PC release was published by 505 Games – the Director’s Cut was released earlier this year. Evil West, the vampire-tinged cowboy shooter from Shadow Warrior reboot developer Flying Wild Hogs, has been delayed again, and is now scheduled to launch on 22nd November. Announced back in 2020, Evil West follows the gunslinging adventures of Jesse Rentier as he prowls the American frontier in search of vampiric monstrosities to destroy. It all unfolds in classic third-person action style, and is playable either co-operatively with a friend or solo. Previously, Evil West was due to launch on 20th September (and before that late 2021), but a Twitter statement shared by Focus Entertainment today explained the publisher and Flying…
