Sega considered a Dreamcast or Saturn Mini but it would have been “a difficult and expensive process”
Sega producer Yosuke Okunari has confirmed that the reason the company didn’t pursue creating a mini Dreamcast or Saturn because “both developing and manufacturing new chipsets during the pandemic is a difficult and expensive process”. In an interview with Famitsu, Okunari said – as paraphrased by Gosokkyu (thanks, NintendoLife) – the company did “explore the idea” of a Dreamcast or Saturn Mini but ultimately decided not to pursue it when Sega discovered manufacturing mini consoles had become more expensive post-pandemic (and post semiconductor shortage, of course). Okunari added that the Mega Drive Mini’s internals “can’t adequately handle Saturn games”, and…

Amazon Games has entered into a new publishing agreement with Disruptive Games, a Californian indie studio, to publish its “upcoming online multiplayer action-adventure game”. The press release stops short of detailing much else about the upcoming game – details will be “revealed at a later date”, apparently, although a quick snoop on Disruptive’s website hints that it’s coming to PC as well as unspecified PlayStation and Xbox consoles – but Disruptive Games has worked on several notable titles, including Diablo II: Resurrected, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, and Godfall. The studio says it is now focused on “multiplayer-first…
More reports have surfaced suggesting upcoming PS5 game Abandoned is “not actively being worked on” and “there is no game” in development. The claims come from GameSpot , which alleges it has information directly from a private Discord server through which Hasan Kahraman of Blue Box Game Studios, Abandoned’s director, communicates with a handful of selected fans. In exchange for access to “screenshots, animations, and even a page of the game’s script”, the members are required to sign a NDA, so some would only speak about the project under strict anonymity. Should any member of the server press Kahraman -…
There is a distinct feeling to walking around in a city you used to live in. It is different from going to a new place for the first time and it’s different from walking around a place you live in now. There is a mix of nostalgia and surprise as you walk around the old places you used to know and the new places that have cropped up since. You may feel a tinge of sadness at the places that are no longer there and, with it, a sense of the passage of time. There really is only one game…

Back in March, Gamescom – the world’s busiest annual game show – confirmed that it will return as an in-person event this year, running from 24th to 28th August at Cologne’s Koelnmesse convention centre. Nintendo, however, will not be there.
