EA has finally confirmed that the Werewolf expansion is coming to The Sims 4. The Sims 4 Werewolves Game Pack – which releases on Steam, Origin, and Xbox on 16th June – brings “unique temperaments and abilities, be affected by the phase of the moon, and experience wolf-specific life events”. It’ll be welcomed news for Simmers who may have been disappointed that werewolves were not part of the recent update, despite EA teasing that werewolves might finally be making a return to the series for the first time since The Sims 3’s Supernatural expansion. Parents of an Activision Blizzard employee who took her own life have dropped their lawsuit against the company. Kerri Moynihan, a 32-year-old finance manager at Activision, died in 2017 while attending a company retreat. The incident publicly came to light as part of California’s still-ongoing lawsuit against Activision, filed last July, which has alleged multiple instances of discrimination and misconduct at the company. A new Evercade handheld console will be released this winter: the Evercade EXP. Iterating on the previous handheld, the slick white Evercade EXP features a faster processor on par with its home console equivalent Evercade VS, as well as a higher resolution screen, built-in WiFi, and a new pair of triggers. In addition, Tate Mode will allow players to rotate the handheld for vertical play – the screen has been designed for this and the console includes extra buttons to accommodate the change in orientation. A new report commissioned by the Norwegian Consumer Council has concluded that loot boxes in games are “exploitative and predatory.” Consumer protection agencies in 18 European countries have backed the report and called for better regulation of video games. The report uses both FIFA 22 and Raid: Shadow Legends as case studies to demonstrate the “wide arsenal of tricks to push consumers into spending as much time and money as possible exploiting consumers hope to receive the reward despite a miniscule chance and likelihood to do so”. Stray, everyone’s favourite upcoming cyberpunk cat game, launches for PC, PlayStation 4 and PS5 on 19th July. That release date was confirmed this evening in a fresh trailer, showcased as part of Sony’s latest State of Play. We also learnt that Stray will be available at launch via the new, pricier PlayStation Plus tiers: Extra and Premium. Final Fantasy 16 finally has a release window of summer 2023. Naoki Yoshida introduced a new trailer for the game at the PlayStation State of Play you can watch below, which gave us a fresh look at the game’s story and gameplay. Guerilla Games has offered a first proper look at Horizon Call of the Mountain for PSVR2, alongside news that a free update for Horizon Forbidden West on PS4 and PS5 is now available, adding an ultra hard difficulty, New Game+, and more.
