Nvidia has created a new map within Minecraft powered by RTX technology to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Built by artist Ushio Tokura, the map features a full recreation of Buckingham Palace and Pall Mall, along with a street party that includes bunting, cake, champagne and a game of pin the tail on the corgi (I hope they got permission from the council). The map took three designers 650 hours within two weeks to build, 45m blocks and covers a virtual area of roughly 830,000 square feet. Even having piled around 80 hours a piece into every Monster Hunter since the exquisite fourth outing on 3DS I’d still consider myself as something of a casual fan; happy to blunder through the main quests and just as happy to be carried through High Rank quests, by the time the Master Rank-focussed expansions come around I’ve usually got to admit I’m well out of my depth. I loved Monster Hunter World but am not ashamed to admit that hard-edged expansion Iceborne kicked my arse, so I was heading into Monster Hunter Rise’s own hard-edged expansion Sunbreak with some trepidation.…
Casting for Sony’s live-action Twisted Metal series continues, with the news that Will Arnett – known for the likes of BoJack Horseman, The Lego Batman Movie, and Arrested Development – will voice the role of insane clown Sweet Tooth. According to Variety, the show’s version of the iconic Sweet Tooth is a “hilarious and terrifying hulk of a man, who is as emotional as he is cunning. A lover of chaos, this majestic rage-filled killer dons an ever-smiling clown mask and uses ‘Lost Vegas’ as his own personal kill-ground, all while he drives his infamous doomsday ice cream truck.” The…
Following yesterday’s brief gameplay tease, Sega has released a considerably more substantial seven minutes of Sonic Frontiers gameplay, offering a much clearer look at how the hedgehog’s first foray into open-world platforming will likely play out. Yesterday’s footage was perhaps most notable for the rather muted art style Sega has opted for this time around, with the game – at least from what we’ve seen so far – placing Sonic in a realistically hewn world that almost feels closer to the sodden, boulder-pocked hillsides of Death Stranding than it does the colour-blasted Sonic backdrops of old. We get to see…
Velan Studios’ competitive “dodgebrawl” game Knockout City has officially gone free-to-play. Knockout City – which launched on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC last May – was initially published under the EA Originals label, but earlier this year Velan announced it would be taking over publishing duties and shifting to a free-to-play model starting with its sixth season. Both the free version of Knockout City and Season 6: City of Tomorrow are now here, introducing, among other things, the new Boomerang Ball across all playlists, the Starfruit Special energy drink, the sci-flyer crew vehicle, a permanent new career contract, an expanded…
Tekken 7 has now sold 9m copies worldwide, making it the highest selling game in the series. What’s more, the series as a whole has now sold 53m copies. As we reported last year, Tekken 7 had sold 7m copies – adding another 2m in the last year shows sales are still going strong. Respawn boss Vince Zampella and The Sims exec Lyndsay Pearson have issued statements supporting the rights of women and transgender people, as EA continues to be pressured by employees to make a wider statement of its own. The remarks, posted publicly on Twitter overnight, reportedly follow an internal meeting within EA on LGBTQ+ issues, Kotaku reported. There, the publisher was again asked by employees whether it would make a public statement on these issues – and reportedly again kept to its previous line that these topics were subject to different points of view across the company. PC gamers rejoice! God of War on PC has been updated to support AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 2.0. For those of you out of the loop, I highly recommend you give Digital Foundry’s explainer a read, where Alex Battaglia explains it much more eloquently than I ever could. In short, FSR 2.0 is a suite of image upscaling technologies which let your PC run the game at a lower internal resolution, which is then reconstructed to be close to indistinguishable from its native resolution. Little Big Adventure 1 & 2 get cloud saves, controller support, achievements and more in new update
Adeline Software’s much-loved Little Big Adventure series can now be enjoyed with a welcome selection of modern day niceties – including cloud saves, controller support, and Steam achievements – thanks to a brand-new update on Steam. The original Little Big Adventure – an evocative blend of platforming, puzzling, and exploration that followed young hero Twinsen as he attempted to escape evil dictator Dr. FunFrock – released back in 1994 and was followed by a sequel three years later. Needless to say, at now over a quarter of a century old, both were decidedly lacking in modern day polish. Developer 2.21,…
