In just 24 hours, Sony Santa Monica’s God of War reboot has topped over 50,000 concurrent players on Steam.According to SteamDB, the concurrent player count continues to climb since the game was released yesterday and at the time of writing, the record stands at 57,764 simultaneous players – not bad for an entirely single-player experience. In fact, in the 20 minutes since I started writing this article, the concurrent peak has increased four – no, wait, five now – times.Read more Source – eurogamer.net
Icarus developer RocketWerkz is making the “first of many” adjustments to the survival game’s permadeath and difficulty issues.Right now, if your character dies and/or is left behind after the mission timer expires, you’ll lose them, their blueprints, and their XP for good – a problem further compounded by server issues around the time the game launched last month, and an acknowledgement that some players may have not realised how death worked in the session-based survival game. Over the past couple of weeks, details have begun to emerge about a new Armored Core game from From Software. As Vikki reported, videos and screenshots were apparently shown as part of a consumer survey, and leakers have talked online about what they were shown. Since the original news appeared, screenshots have been shared, albeit heavily edited to remove any identifying watermarks.First things first, you’re welcome! I am the person responsible for this wonderful news! I don’t mean that I’m behind the leaks, I actually spurred From Software to make a new Armored Core. Y’see way back in September, I…

Yesterday, Digital Foundry posted its tech review for the PC port of erstwhile PlayStation exclusive God of War, concluding that the work delivered by Sony Santa Monica and Jetpack Interactive was simply superb. In addition to delivering an excellent conversion of the core content, the team has gone several steps further. Yes, the prerequisites of high frame-rate and ultrawide display support are in, but it’s also great to see Sony’s ports embracing worthwhile technologies such as Nvidia DLSS and Reflex, in addition to AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution – while integrating its own temporal upscaler. After receiving review code pre-Christmas, Sony approached…

What a coincidence. Who knew a game like WorldBox – God Simulator would come along at exactly the same time I decided to rewatch The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings? Extended editions, naturally. I’ve just cleared Fellowship of the Ring so I’m churning through them. Poor old Boromir – gets me every time. It’s fair to say I have orcs and elves and dwarves on the brain, so you can imagine my surprise when WorldBox let me make, almost literally, a Middle-earth of my own. I even got a ‘well done you’ve made Middle-earth’ achievement when I filled the…
Today sees the launch of God of War on PC – arguably the biggest PlayStation franchise to make the leap from console so far – and in a new interview published to coincide with its release, Sony Santa Monica creative director Cory Barlog has revealed it was Sony’s own internal studios that pushed to get PlayStation games on PC.Asked if Sony’s decision to begin porting its games to the platform was something championed by the Santa Monica team early on, Barlog, in conversation with GameInformer, suggested it was actually the developers across Sony’s PlayStation Studios network that were ultimately instrumental…
