Sony admits PlayStation Plus members who stacked new subscriptions were being made to pay difference
This week’s initial rollout of Sony’s new PlayStation Plus – limited, so far, to countries in Asia – has been plagued by complaints from fans who stacked subscriptions ahead of time and unexpectedly found Sony wanted them to cough up the difference when converting their membership to its new tiers. Numerous users reported via social media that they had been told they would have to pay up for any difference in pricing – achieved via stacking or from redeeming discounted PlayStation Plus offers – for the full term of their remaining subscription balance. It was a situation that left some…
Sony has announced that its upcoming PlayStation VR2 will have over 20 first-party and third-party games available at launch. The announcement was made today in a business briefing by Sony on its “Game and Network Services Segment.” Speaking to investors in a briefing call, PlayStation chief Jim Ryan said, “Right now, there is a considerable amount of money being spent on partnerships with independent and other third-party developers to secure a considerable pipeline of attractive VR content at the launch of PlayStation VR2,” (thanks, VGC). A dataminer has uncovered further references to Ruby and her Demon Spawn secreted within Evil Dead: The Game’s files. Ruby – who hails from Ash vs. Evil Dead – has yet to make an appearance in the main game, and her absence from the roster was a surprising omission to some given the plethora of other characters from Evil Dead stories, both old and new. Now – thanks to a second batch of datamined voice files from our hero roster – it seems like she will indeed be making an appearance, seemingly batting for the Demons in these particular scenarios,…
Prolific PUGB dataminer, PlayerIGN, has allegedly had “PUBG show up at [their] front door”. The dataminer revealed that earlier this week, a private investigator turned up at their home and handed them a letter demanding that the leaker’s social media posts be removed. The letter – allegedly from PUBG developer Krafton – also wanted copies of PlayerIGN’s direct messages in order to decipher “how [they] got said information”. One of the great pleasures of recent years has been the revival of the side-scrolling beat ’em up – a genre whose prime was in the 90s, and one that’s since been entangled and obscured by the crushing vines of nostalgia. I’ve always loved the swagger and style of Streets of Rage, only to go back to the original trilogy and be somewhat disappointed by the simplicity of it all. It took Dotemu’s unlikely revival of Sega’s series with 2020’s Streets of Rage 4, developed alongside Guard Crush Games and Lizardcube, for me to fall back in love with the…

A Horizon Zero Dawn TV project is in the works for Netflix, Sony has announced. In a new presentation to investors, Sony also said it had a God of War TV show in development for Amazon, and a further Gran Turismo pitch it was also working on. There’s no word on plot details for Horizon – or any of the above projects – or word on when we might see them materialise. Still, hopefully someone at Sony is talking to Game of Thrones actress Rose Leslie right now and asking about her availability. Read more Source – eurogamer.net All content…
EA has addressed its public silence on abortion rights, as the US Supreme Court decides whether to controversially overturn the country’s key Roe v Wade ruling. That decision, if made, would plunge a swathe of US states into a situation where legal abortion was once again largely unavailable – and it’s a situation several US-based game companies have spoken out about. EA, as with the majority of companies, has not. Nor has it publicly made a specific statement on legal issues threatening transgender rights, which are ongoing in several states. Now, speaking via a town hall meeting leaked to Kotaku,…
Absurd multiplayer game Party Animals is still set for a release this year, despite being in “production hell”. A new blog on Steam states the team at Recreate Games “can feel the anticipation and anxiety of our players” and will be gradually releasing more information on the game’s progress. The game received an open demo in October 2020 but little has been heard since. Read more Source – eurogamer.net All content and images belong to their respected owners.
