Dad attempts class-action lawsuit after daughter spends $300 on Hearthstone packs without permission
A father is attempting to launch a class-action lawsuit against Hearthstone maker Blizzard, after his daughter secretly spent more than $300 on packs without getting all the cards they wanted. Arizona man Nathan Harris is trying to launch the suit, which claims Hearthstone tricks players into non-refundable purchases without knowing the odds of rare cards (thanks, Polygon). In particular, Harris complains that his daughter – who used his credit card without asking – did not realise you could not get a refund from packs which “almost never received any valuable cards”. The game also lacks parental controls, Harris complained. Read…

The LG C1 OLED is the top Digital Foundry 4K TV pick – and now it’s down to an incredible low price at Amazon UK, nearly 50% off its original RRP of £1699. That’s an incredible deal for a 4K TV with four HDMI 2.1 ports for 4K 120Hz gaming, a beautiful OLED panel and support for VRR on Xbox, PlayStation and PC. The C1 OLED remains our top pick even after the launch of the C2, for a few reasons. First, the C2 lacks the 120Hz Black Frame Insertion (BFI) feature that we really appreciated on the C1. Second,…
You’re probably already familiar with the Reedpop stable of sites that includes GamesIndustry.biz, RockPaperShotgun, VG247 and, of course, us, and I’m delighted to say the family’s grown a little today with the introduction of Popverse – a pop culture news and features site that’s just launched today. It’s a fairly natural fit for a company that runs more than a handful of pop culture events such as MCM, NYCC and PAX, and it’s a heavyweight prospect that draws upon talent from the likes of The AV Club, Entertainment Weekly, Life Magazine, USA Today and plenty more besides. It’s where you’ll…
Ubisoft’s free-to-play team-based sports game Roller Champions finally has a release date and will, after a bit of a delay earlier this year, be launching next Wednesday, 25th May on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. Roller Champions, if you’re unfamiliar, is Ubisoft’s stab at creating the kind of knockabout sports mash-up that’s made Rocket League such a perennial favourite, playing out like a fast-paced hybrid of competitive roller-skating, hockey, and football – wherein two teams of three hurtle around a track in an attempt to wrestle the ball from one another and score a goal. Is it any good? Time will…
