UPDATE 11.30pm: Following Fall Guys’ free-to-play announcement earlier this evening, developer Mediatonic has provided some additional details relating to the PC version, confirming the game will be delisted from Steam as of 21st June – although existing users will be able to continue playing on Valve’s platform. The news isn’t hugely surprising, of course; Epic Games acquired Mediatonic in 2021, and while the developer insisted Fall Guys would “remain available on Steam” at the time, the money was on it following a similar trajectory to Rocket League – which ended up ditching Steam in favour of the Epic Games Store after…
If you’ve been waiting to get into current-gen gaming then there’s no better time than now. PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles have finally been restocking regularly at retail price, and the Xbox Series S has firmly remained in stock for some time now.Although the next-gen consoles are becoming easier to purchase, the disc versions can be expensive- even when bought second-hand. A more affordable way to experience current-gen gaming is by upgrading to the Series S for just £249.However, you can currently pick up the digital-only console for even cheaper thanks to this limited-time trade-in offer happening at Game.…
PlayStation Plus Premium is a revamped version of Sony’s subscription service, which is turning into more of a Netflix-style service providing access to hundreds of games for a flat monthly fee. The service covers every PlayStation console – from the original PS1 to the PS5, as well as the PSP and, thanks to streaming, PS3 support. Based on what Sony has confirmed for the launch window, the roster appears to be omitting some iconic franchises – there’s no Gran Turismo, for example – but there are plenty of classics from all generations to discover – from Jumping Flash!, Ape Escape…
We’ve been talking/warning about it for a long time – usually in the context of game preservation – but the recent Xbox game outage has certainly justified our concerns. Online DRM, the need to have an active internet connection to verify that you’re permitted to play the games you own, has been a hot topic for some time now. There’ll come a point in the (hopefully) far-flung future that authentication servers won’t be available, making today’s games unplayable. What we didn’t quite expect was a gaming black-out in the here and now. That’s the first discussion point in this week’s DF…
Microsoft is reportedly developing an Xbox and PC app to let you create your own dynamic backgrounds. As spotted by notorious Microsoft leaker Aggiornamenti Lumia and Windows Central, the in-progress app looks like it will let you add up to eight concurrent visual effects to custom imagery. You can then layer said effects over a timeline, creating an animated background for your PC or console. Microsoft took a little while to add dynamic backgrounds to Xbox, but there are now an array to choose from, including themes which nod back to the Xbox console family’s past, as well as to…
We keep coming back to puppetry as a running theme, and that’s because, much to my surprise, Gareth Damian Martin is a trained puppeteer. When they ran out of time to apply to art college, they chose puppetry instead, which would eventually take them into a career in theatre design. And they learned lots of valuable lessons there: one of them being un-moveable deadlines and this idea of planning only what can be done in time. That’s how they made Citizen Sleeper in two years, and how they were able to plan a break before launch so they could return…
Ubisoft is backing Sony’s new PlayStation Plus tiers with a “curated” version of its own Ubisoft+ subscription, which will provide an initial 27 games and grow to more than 50 by the end of 2022. It’s called Ubisoft+ Classics, and it’s is a cut-down version of the full Ubisoft+ subscription available on PC (which offers more than 100 games including brand new titles, premium editions and access to expansions and season passes). As part of PlayStation Plus’ new Extra and Premium tiers, you’ll get a growing selection of Ubisoft games including Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and a selection of older games…
Sony’s revamped PlayStation Plus service is now just a week away from its initial launch, and we now have some idea which games will be included as part of its current and classic game catalogues. As a reminder, the new PlayStation Plus tiers will arrive here in the UK on 23rd June, as with elsewhere in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. This follows the service’s launch in the Americas on 13th June, Japan on 2nd June, and Asia next week on 24th May. Included with both the new Extra and Premium tiers, the PS4 and PS5 Game Catalogue will include…
What if Horizon Zero Dawn were made for the original PlayStation? That’s a question answered by YouTube creator ZeoNyph, who’s produced a short video of a demake done using Blender software. It’s a fun video homage, with all the hallmarks of a PS1 game. Read more Source – eurogamer.net All content and images belong to their respected owners. It’s an exciting time in the PC hardware space. While we’ve been spending our time testing DDR5 memory and 12th-gen Intel processors, we’re also on the cusp of some interesting storage innovations. Microsoft’s DirectStorage API was released just a few weeks prior, and as PCIe 4.0 SSDs have become increasingly affordable, PCIe 5.0 has debuted on Intel motherboards, soon to be replicated with AMD’s next generation platform. With that in mind, we had plenty of questions ready when we were approached by storage giant Kingston to speak to one of their longest-serving executives on the SSD side of the firm.…
