We are thrilled to announce the release of action RPG Code Vein II on PS5 January 30, 2026! It’s been approximately seven years since the release of the original Code Vein, and we are incredibly excited to unveil this at State of Play. First, please watch the “Release Date Reveal Trailer,” which was also featured during State of Play:

Set in a future where humans and Revenants coexist, the world teeters on the brink of collapse.
A mysterious force known as Luna Rapacis suddenly emerges, turning Revenants into mindless beasts called Horrors. As chaos spreads, humanity faces extinction.

You play as the protagonist, a Revenant Hunter who embarks on a mission to rewrite fate. With the aid of Lou, a mysterious girl who holds the power to transcend time itself, you will journey into the past to uncover the origins of the Luna Rapacis and prevent the world’s downfall.

Code Vein II delivers a dramatic exploration action RPG experience. Players will traverse a richly detailed world alongside trusted allies, engage in intense battles against formidable Revenant foes, and unravel an epic, time-spanning narrative that blends emotion, mystery, and adventure.

In this PS Blog post, I would like to introduce some of the key gameplay elements and story highlights for this title.

A grand tale that unfolds across two timelines: the present and the past

As a Revenant Hunter tasked with saving a collapsing world, players will traverse between two interconnected timelines—the present and 100 years in the past. By altering the fates of unique Revenants encountered in the past, they’ll gradually uncover a hidden history and the truth behind the world’s downfall.

In the Release Date Announcement Trailer, two key characters were revealed: Lavinia, an enigmatic figure who entrusts the protagonist with the mission to travel back in time; and Josee, a mysterious companion who joins your journey in the past to rewrite fate.

See how the bonds formed in the past will redefine the world in the present – a sweeping drama across a century awaits you.

Build your own unique battle style with a wide variety of combat abilities

In addition to familiar weapons from the Code Vein (one-handed swords, two-handed swords, bayonets, halberds, great hammers), we have added two new weapon types: “Rune Blades” and “Dual Swords.”

Code Vein’s unique blood-draining attacks return as the “The Jail” equipment! With the addition of new blood actions like “Reaper” and “Bat,” combat is more versatile than ever. Analyze the battlefield, enemy movements, and your positioning, and discover the perfect weapon for every encounter.

In this game, it is also possible to use the supernatural powers that Revenants have possessed since ancient times, called “Forma,” which can transform weapon attacks into powerful techniques, grant long-range attacks or status ailments, and expand the range of combat.

In the Release Date Announcement Trailer, viewers get a first look at the Forma ability known as “Absolute Execution Sword”, one of the Traditional Forma. This formidable skill summons a massive sword—towering over the wielder—that delivers devastating damage to enemies. Though it leaves large openings between strikes, its overwhelming power makes it a game-changing weapon capable of turning the tide of battle.

Embark on a challenging, action-packed Journey with your partner

In this adventure, your partner isn’t just by your side—they’re a part of you. Sealed within the protagonist as a heart-shaped core on their back, your companion accompanies you throughout the journey, offering support both narratively and in battle.

Combat evolves with two powerful partner-based mechanics:

    • Summon: Materialize your partner into physical form to fight alongside you in real time.
    • Assimilation: Channel your partner’s power directly, enhancing your abilities for explosive, high-damage attacks.

The Assimilation system introduces a new layer of strategy and power, offering a fresh combat experience even for players familiar with the original title—allowing for dynamic, high-impact gameplay unlike anything seen before in the core loop.

We sincerely hope players will embrace the unique cooperative gameplay and the rewarding challenges the title has to offer.
