Control Resonant: Unveiling the Next Chapter in the Control Universe

    Hello everyone,

Today, we’re excited to share the first look at Control Resonant, the next major entry in the Control universe, coming to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC in 2026. The world premiere trailer debuted at The Game Awards, and you can watch it below.

From the moment we wrapped the first Control, we knew there was more story waiting to be told. Control Resonant begins that next phase, expanding the universe with a new lead character, a new setting, and a new kind of supernatural crisis, all of which you’ll see glimpses of in the announcement trailer.

    Dylan Faden Takes the Lead

    Control Resonant Screenshot

In the first Control, players stepped into Jesse Faden’s role as she searched for her brother Dylan inside the Oldest House, the shifting headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control. In Control Resonant, you step into Dylan’s shoes.

Years after his confinement by the Federal Bureau of Control, the Bureau now calls upon Dylan at the height of a supernatural catastrophe. A mysterious cosmic force is distorting Manhattan, twisting gravity, reshaping streets, and warping reality into a geophysical nightmare. Dylan must harness his new-found abilities to face this and other threats tied to his past and to the forces that once held him captive.

His journey is one of identity, consequence, and power as he seeks not only to confront the crisis at hand, but to find his sister, FBC Director Jesse Faden, in the chaos.

The Aberrant: A Weapon That Evolves With You

The trailer also reveals Dylan’s primary weapon: the Aberrant, a living, shapeshifting melee weapon. It splits, extends, and morphs into new forms on demand and, paired with Dylan’s growing supernatural abilities, fuels fast, physical combat that feels unmistakably like Control taken to the next level.

A Larger, More Open Take on Control

Control Resonant expands the foundations of the first game into a full third-person action-RPG set across a paranaturally warped take on Manhattan.

You’ll explore interconnected zones, uncover hidden events, and develop Dylan’s abilities and weapon through deep progression systems that let you define your playstyle, whether that means raw melee power, ability-driven agility or environmental manipulation or a mix of all three.

A New Entry Point for the Series

Though Control Resonant continues the broader mythology introduced in Control, it’s crafted as a new entry point. You can jump in without prior knowledge of Control – though returning fans will recognize familiar threats, characters, and echoes of the past woven through Dylan’s story and the world around him.

    Coming in 2026

Control Resonant is our biggest, most ambitious game to date. We’re pushing the action, the world, and the paranatural mystery in bold new directions, and we’ll have much more to share in 2026.

Stay tuned – this is only the beginning.

After years in confinement at the hands of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), Dylan Faden’s former captors are deploying him at the peak of a supernatural crisis.

Charged with combating a mysterious cosmic entity as it alters fundamental aspects of our reality, Dylan must harness his new-found powers to take the fight to the myriad threats overwhelming Manhattan.

Join Dylan in this sequel to the multi-award-winning CONTROL to explore the expansive zones of a city overrun by the corrupting influences of the chaotic Hiss and invasive micro-organism, the Mold, and other twisted paranatural threats.

On the path to unlocking the full potential of his supernatural abilities Dylan will also seek out his sister, FBC Director Jesse Faden, as he bids to comprehend and contain the dangers that have spilled beyond the confines of the Oldest House to tear our world apart.
