The Apple iPhone and Mac version of Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding: Director’s Cut has been delayed to early 2024, publisher 505 Games has announced.
Announced earlier this year with a 2023 release window, iPhone and Mac players worried about the remaining days of the year ticking down had cause for concern as Death Stranding has now been pushed to the vague early 2024 window.
“Here at 505 Games and Kojima Productions, we are excited to launch Death Stranding: Director’s Cut on iPhone, iPad, and Mac,” the publisher said in a post on X/Twitter. “We just need a little more time. Stay tuned for a new release date in early 2024. We can’t wait to welcome more Porters to Death Stranding Director’s Cut.
From Metal Gear Solid creator Kojima, Death Stranding puts players in the shoes of Sam Bridges (played by Norman Reedus) as he journeys across a ravaged landscape crawling with mysterious threats following the collapse of civilisation.
The Director’s Cut was released in 2021 as an improved version of the original, featuring a long list of quality-of-life improvements to make the player experience a little less frustrating. In our 7/10 review, IGN said: “Death Stranding Director’s Cut is more accessible than the original, but feels like a compromised version of the director’s vision.”
The iPhone version was confirmed in September alonsgside the iPhone 15 Pro’s announcement as the “next-generation of mobile gaming”. Apple also announced mobile versions of Resident Evil 4 Remake, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and more.
