Far Cry 6 Has Received Its Final Update, Ubisoft Confirms

Far Cry 6 has officially received its last patch after Ubisoft announced it would no longer be updating the game.

As reported by VGC, Ubisoft published a statement on the Far Cry X/Twitter account (below) announcing the end of support and thanking fans for playing.

“Thanks to the millions of players who joined the fight,” it said. “Your adventures can continue in Yara w/o interruption of online services, however the dev team will no longer be making updates to Far Cry 6. We appreciate your passion, creativity, and love of Chorizo, even Anton is proud.”

As mentioned, online services will not be shut down for Far Cry 6, meaning players can continue to play it with others. Online play will likely be taken down eventually, but given 2014’s Far Cry 4 is still active, it won’t be for a long time.

Far Cry 6 wasn’t receiving any major updates as of late, of course, as it launched more than two years ago itself. Its last major patch, which brought it to Title Update 6, was released way back in November 2022.

With no more updates for Far Cry 6 on the way, fans have turned their attention towards Far Cry 7. Though it’s not been announced officially, Ubisoft is almost definitely working on some sort of sequel, even if it is prioritising Assassin’s Creed going forward.

In our 8/10 review of the latest, IGN said: “Far Cry 6 smooths over a lot of the bumps that have cropped up in the past few games and even though it misses some steps, especially with its new inventory system, it’s the best the series has been in years.”
