Microsoft Picks Up Well-Received Steam Sci-Fi Grand Strategy Game Terra Invicta for PC Game Pass

Terra Invicta launches on PC Game Pass and the Microsoft Store on March 26, publisher Hooded Horse has announced.

Terra Invicta is a sci-fi grand strategy game about dealing with an extraterrestrial invasion of the solar system. It launched in 2022 in early access form on Steam, where it enjoys a ‘very positive’ user review rating. Terra Invicta is developed by Pavonis Interactive, maker of the famous Long War mods for 2012 game XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

From the creators of Long War, an alien invasion has fractured humanity into seven ideological factions each with a unique vision for the future. Lead your chosen faction to take control of Earth’s nations, expand across the Solar System, and battle enemy fleets in tactical combat.

Each of the seven factions comes with its own unique end goal and playstyle:

• The Resistance works to form an alliance of nations to mount a coordinated defense.
• Humanity First vows to exterminate the aliens alongside any who sympathize with them.
• The Servants worship the aliens and believe they will solve all the troubles of the world.
• The Protectorate advocates negotiated surrender as the only means to avoid annihilation.
• The Academy hopes the alien arrival heralds the opportunity to form an interstellar alliance.
• The Initiative seeks to profit from the chaos and destruction.
• Project Exodus plans to build a massive starship and flee the Solar System.

Terra Invicta has sold nearly 200,000 copies since launching in early access, with the average playtime sitting at just under 60 hours per person. Pavonis Interactive is currently working toward the game’s 1.0 release.​

Terra Invicta joins fellow Hooded Horse title Against the Storm on PC Game Pass. The Hooded Horse-published Manor Lords, one of the most-wishlisted games currently on Steam, releases into PC Game Pass in April as a day-one launch.
