No Man’s Sky: Remnant Introduces A Powerful New Gravity Gun Perfect for Turning Trash into Treasure

    • Sean Murray, Founder, Hello Games

    Summary

    • No Man’s Sky Remnant is free for Xbox and Game Pass players today.
    • The Gravitino Coil is a powerful new gravity gun module for your multi-tool, that can be used as a ballistic weapon or to turn heavy objects into projectiles.
    • New blueprints for customizing the Colossus have also been discovered to facilitate the inter-galactic clean-up operation.

In 2025, Xbox Travellers in No Man’s Sky were treated to one of our biggest years yet, with no less than 5 major updates (Worlds Part II, Relics, Beacon, Breach and the ground-breaking Voyagers). Today we’re pleased to announce that our first update of 2026, our 10th anniversary year, is already rolling out. It’s called Remnant and it introduces something that we and the community have been aching to introduce to No Man’s Sky since the beginning…a fully operational gravity gun!

The Gravitino Coil is a powerful module for your multi-tool which enables you to pull large weighty objects towards you from afar and carry them to your transport or even fire them at aggressive Sentinels to aid in combat.

In fact, the Gravitino Coil wields enough energy that some of the weaker Sentinels are no match for its gravitational pull, such that they themselves can be turned mercilessly into projectiles against their own kind.

Despite such..auxilliary uses, the intended use of this device was primarily utilitarian. It was originally devised to facilitate the clean-up of industrial, often-times toxic or even volatile waste which has blighted certain planets for far too long. A tool that can lift large amounts of planetary debris and load it into exocraft transporters was just the ticket.

One Traveler’s trash is another Traveller’s treasure and a lot of the material you will find scattered around holds incredible resale value at the processing planets which have sprung up opportunistically around these waste-blighted planets.

Of course even a vehicle as robust and mighty as the Colossus exocraft would need to be adapted to enable such heavy and potentially hazardous cargo. It can now be fitted with a tippable flat-bed rear for ease of transportation and a whole host of undercarriages from treads and mechanical legs to traverse the planets in style, cargo safely in tow. Just refrain from bouncing the unstable material around too much as you choose your path.

The Colossus also comes with a large array of customisation options such that the external aesthetic can be as unique and personal as your exosuit, spaceship or freighter.

Travellers from across the universe are being called to a specific clean-up operation on a particularly messy planet in the Remnant exhibition. Large convoys of exocraft and armies of Gravitino Coil-wielding industrialists have already answered the call.

No Man’s Sky is celebrating 10 years of exploration and survival this year and we’re thrilled to still be able to bring such game-changing updates to the community. Our journey continues.

No Man’s Sky comes complete with all 29 major updates up to and including Worlds Part I.

Inspired by the adventure and imagination that we love from classic science-fiction, No Man’s Sky presents you with a galaxy to explore, filled with unique planets and lifeforms, and constant danger and action.

In No Man’s Sky, every star is the light of a distant sun, each orbited by planets filled with life, and you can go to any of them you choose. Fly smoothly from deep space to planetary surfaces, with no loading screens, and no limits. In this infinite procedurally generated universe, you’ll discover places and creatures that no other players have seen before – and perhaps never will again.

    Embark on an epic voyage
At the centre of the galaxy lies a irresistible pulse which draws you on a journey towards it to learn the true nature of the cosmos. But, facing hostile creatures and fierce pirates, you’ll know that death comes at a cost, and survival will be down to the choices you make over how you upgrade your ship, your weapon and suit.

    Find your own destiny
Your voyage through No Man’s Sky is up to you. Will you be a fighter, preying on the weak and taking their riches, or taking out pirates for their bounties? Power is yours if you upgrade your ship for speed and weaponry.
Or a trader? Find rich resources on forgotten worlds and exploit them for the highest prices. Invest in more cargo space and you’ll reap huge rewards.
Or perhaps an explorer? Go beyond the known frontier and discover places and things that no one has ever seen before. Upgrade your engines to jump ever farther, and strengthen your suit for survival in toxic environments that would kill the unwary.

    Share your journey
The galaxy is a living, breathing place. Trade convoys travel between stars, factions vie for territory, pirates hunt the unwary, and the police are ever watching. Every other player lives in the same galaxy, and you can choose to share your discoveries with them on a map that spans known space. Perhaps you will see the results of their actions as well as your own…
