Our Favorite Anker Power Bank for the Steam Deck Is on Sale for a Few Hours Longer for Prime Day

As part of the final hours of the October Prime Day Sale, Amazon is offering the Anker PowerCore 737 USB Power Bank for only $89.99 $79.99. This portable battery features a generous 20,000mAH capacity and a powerful 140W charging rate, and yet it’s still TSA-approved. It’s the perfect backup for a Steam Deck or Asus Rog Ally. I own this power bank as my travel charger for my ROG Ally and my kids’ Switches; it has been on multiple flights and is still lasting strong.

Update: Now there is a $10 clippable coupon code on the product page that drops the price down to $79.99, making this deal the lowest price we’ve ever seen. We doubt you’ll find a better price even on Black Friday.

47% Off Anker PowerCore 737 24,000mAh Power Bank

with 140W of USB Type-C Power Delivery

The Anker PowerCore 737 has two USB Type-C ports and one USB Type-A port. One of the USB Type-C ports is bi-directional, meaning it can be used to charge devices AND it can also be used to charge the power bank itself. The massive 24,000mAh 86Whr capacity is just under the TSA’s 27,000mAh limit. I recently brought this power bank to a trip to Japan. At the security checkpoint it was removed and the wattage fully tested. It passed with flying colors and I was able to get through security with my power bank in tow.

The Anker 737 is our pick for best Steam Deck or ASUS ROG Ally charger

We picked the Anker 737 as one of our favorite portable chargers for the Steam Deck and ASUS ROG Ally portable gaming handhelds. This is an outstanding charger for handheld gaming consoles like the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and Switch. Both the ROG Ally and Steam Deck suffer from a short battery life when gaming on the go. During our Steam Deck review, we found games like God of War or Spider-Man would tap out in under 2 hours. At the end of the day, you’ll never get the full potential out of your Steam Deck or ROG Ally if you’re not equipped with a decent portable charger. The Steam Deck accepts up to 38W of USB Power Delivery, ASUS ROG Ally accepts up to 65W, and the Nintendo Switch up to 18W. The Anker 737 could theoretically charge a Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and Switch at their maximum charging rate all at the same time, but we wouldn’t recommend that because the thermal protection would kick in and throttle the output.

The 24,000mAh capacity is ideal for Steam Deck or ASUS ROG Ally

The Anker 737 has a 24,000mAh capacity or 86Whr battery. The ASUS ROG Ally and Steam Deck both consume about 40Whr going from full to empty. If you factor in 80% power efficiency, then you should expect the Anker 737 to charge either gaming handheld about 1.7 times. That’s why it’s better to get a larger capacity like this than a 10,000mAh power bank, which cannot charge these handhelds from empty to full even once.

Up to 31% Off the Newer Anker Prime Power Banks

Anker’s newer Prime series power banks are also on sale. They feature higher power output than the Anker 737; the 20,000mAh model supports Power Delivery up to 200W and the 27,650mAh model supports up to 250W. Although that isn’t really a benefit when it comes to gaming handhelds, it’s great for more power hungry laptops like the MacBook Pro. The Prime can also deliver more power over USB Type-A. Whereas the Anker 737 is limited to 18W, the Prime power banks can deliver as much as 65W of power. This is a niche feature limited to compatible phones, but still a neat upgrade.

These are easily some of the best Steam Deck deals and Nintendo Switch deals available for October Prime Day, and absolutely worth considering if you find yourself short on power all too often. You better hurry, though, because we expect most of these deals to go back up in price after midnight.
