Resident Evil 7 Coming to Apple Devices, Including iPhone 15 Pro, Next Month

Resident Evil fans embedded in the Apple hardware ecosystem can rejoice: Capcom has announced that two additional games in its long-running survival horror franchise are coming to Apple devices.

    Welcome to the family, son!

Resident Evil 7 biohazard joins Apple’s family on July 2nd, coming to iPhone 15 Pro models and every iPad and Mac with the M1 chip or later!

Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will be released on July 2 on the iPhone 15 Pro series and Apple silicon-powered iPads and Macs. Additionally, the developer confirmed that Resident Evil 2 Remake is headed to the same Apple products and is “currently in development.”

Capcom further noted that the Resident Evil 7 port has enhanced controls, including a new Auto Fire feature that lets players auto fire a gun after aiming at enemies “for a set period of time.”

As with the previous Resident Evil ports to Apple devices, touch controls will be available alongside Bluetooth controller support. Resident Evil 7 for Apple devices will be available for pre-order starting today. This version will include the additional content found in the Gold Edition, including the Not a Hero story expansion.

A Capcom spokesperson confirmed to IGN that both the Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 2 Remake ports support Universal Purchase. This means if you buy the iPhone 15 Pro version, you will also have access to the ipad and Mac versions, too, so long as you have an M-chip iPad or Mac computer to run either game.

Resident Evil 7 was originally released in 2017 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One and would eventually be ported onto Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in the United States in 2022. It’s the first mainline Resident Evil game to use a first-person point of view and introduces protagonist Ethan Winters, who is looking for his missing wife on a dilapidated plantation in Louisiana.

In our review of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, IGN wrote: “RE7 is a fresh take on the Resident Evil series that fondly recalls the classics even as it takes a bold new direction.”

Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 2 Remake announced for Apple devices mark the third and fourth Resident Evil games to get ported onto Apple’s hardware, following the release of Resident Evil Village last October and Resident Evil 4 Remake in December. They join a growing number of AAA games headed to Apple’s more modern hardware; additional ports include Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and the next entry in the Assassin’s Creed series, subtitled Shadows.
