Nearly ten years after its original release date, Harmonix announced that it will unveil one more DLC pack for Rock Band 4 later this month.
Announced in a press release, the studio confirmed that a final DLC will release on January 25. No specifics were shared on what the DLC will feature, but we did get confirmation that despite the game’s age, live services for Rock Band 4, including online play and Rivals seasons, “will continue as normal.”
“Taking a longer look back, I see the Rock Band DLC catalog as a huge achievement in persistence and commitment – over the years we’ve cleared, authored and released nearly 3,000 songs as DLC and well over 3,000 if you include all the game soundtracks,” Epic Games’ senior product manager Daniel Sussman wrote in the post. “That’s wild. Many of you reading this own a good chunk of this content and we remain committed to protecting that investment – to be very clear, you can play the songs you own within Rock Band 4 for as long as you like.”
“Rock Band 4 makes smart choices in bringing the series back, even if its setlist is somewhat disappointing,” my colleague Ryan McCaffrey wrote in his review.
Sussman also reiterated previous confirmation from Epic Games that support for Rock Band 4 instruments in Fortnite Festival is on the way, noting that “looking ahead,” Fortnite Festival “is the place to be” if you are a fan of the rhythm game genre.
This announcement comes over a month after gaming peripheral company PDP teased that it was either announcing and/or teasing a new plastic guitar controller likely for Fortnite Festival in January.
