Thank your own personal deity — possibly The Dragon God — it’s Friday. Along with the usual deals today, I’d like to draw your attention to something dear to the black void in my chest that ought to hold an organ. Quake II, id’s seminal shooter, has just been remastered and released upon Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox. (Steam users who own it get a free upgrade, too!)
I’ve been shredding Strogg in it for a bit, and my evening is now booked solid for some co-op (4P-split or online cross-play, undecided). While the term ‘Boomer Shooter’ doesn’t resonate with me (my oldies are actual 1946—64 Baby Boomers, and would rather eat earwax than play The Computers), I will say this antiquated AAA scrubs up well. Worth a look, especially on GamePass. God, I’ve missed railguns.
