Slitterhead Pre-orders Open Today: Everything You Need to Know About the New Game From Silent Hill’s Creator

    • William Yohei HartPR Manager, Bokeh Game Studio

    Summary

    • Slitterhead is set to launch November 8 on Xbox Series X|S, with pre-orders beginning today.
    • Both digital Standard and Deluxe editions will be available – Deluxe owners will get early access, a digital artbook, and a soundtrack from Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka.
    • Here’s everything you need to know about this fascinating new title from the creator of Silent Hill.

Prepare for an unforgettable experience as pre-orders for Slitterhead, the latest creation from the dark mind behind Silent Hill, Keiichiro Toyama, open today. This marks the debut title from Bokeh Game Studio, and if you’ve been eagerly waiting since its reveal at The Game Awards in 2021, you can now lock in your pre-order for Xbox Series X|S. If you’re not familiar with Slitterhead, here’s what you need to know.

Enter the Chaotic City of Kowlong

    Slitterhead Screenshot

The nightmarish world of Kowlong is the setting for our game, a fictional city overrun with brain-eating monsters known as Slitterheads. Disguised as ordinary humans, these creatures lurk in the shadows, threatening civilization. As the enigmatic entity Hyoki, you’re tasked with eliminating these grotesque threats. With no memory of your origins, your sole mission is to rid Kowlong of the Slitterheads and restore peace.

    Master the Art of Possession

But Hyoki isn’t your typical video game hero – this character doesn’t have a physical form, meaning your interactions all need to be made by using the world (and characters) around you. Harness Hyoki’s extraordinary power to possess and control any human body in Kowlong. This unique ability allows you to navigate the city’s bustling streets with ease, locate and confront the Slitterheads, and ultimately protect humanity from their menace.

    Unleash the Power of Rarities

While Hyoki can possess any human in the city, not all humans are built the same. Some will have access that others don’t, allowing you to enter areas that would otherwise be locked. The most powerful of all are “Rarities,” characters with a deep connection to Hyoki who possess supernatural abilities. Each Rarity comes with distinct fighting styles, weapons, and blood-powered abilities. Strategically utilize these allies to effectively hunt down the Slitterheads and uncover the dark secrets of Kowlong.

    Discover the Horrors of Slitterheads

Meet the Slitterheads: these cunning creatures can disguise themselves as humans, making them incredibly hard to spot. To track them down, you’ll need to hunt for clues scattered across the city and use Hyoki’s special powers to detect their presence. But finding them is just the beginning. When they finally shed their human guise and reveal their monstrous true form, you’ll need all your skills to take them on. Even with Rarities at your disposal, you’ll find them to be incredibly tough opponents. This is where tactical use of Possession becomes your key to victory.

    Deluxe Edition: A Deeper Dive

For those who want the full Slitterhead experience, we’re launching a Deluxe Edition, featuring an exclusive digital artbook commentated by Creative Director Keiichiro Toyama. You’ll get an inside look at the development process, including concept art that shows how Kowlong and its diverse residents came to life. The Deluxe Edition also includes a digital soundtrack composed by Akira Yamaoka, the acclaimed creator behind the iconic Silent Hill series. Best of all, grab the Deluxe Edition and you’ll even get three full days of  early access, starting November 5!

Both the Standard and Deluxe Editions of Slitterhead are available to pre-order on Xbox Series X|S today, with a full launch coming on November 8. Don’t miss your chance to be among the first to experience this gripping horror-adventure.

Set in the densely cluttered streets of “Kowlong,” filled with obscurity and chaos, this battle action-adventure game casts players as the “Hyoki,” an entity devoid of memory and physical form. His only motive is to eradicate the monstrous beings known as “Slitterheads” crawling around the city, disguising themselves as humans.
Roaming the vibrant neon-lit cityscape, players must seek out allies among humans known as “Rarities,” infiltrate and track dangerous organizations, and engage in battles harnessing the power of blood. As the suspenseful drama unfolds, delve into the mystery behind Hyoki’s existence and the appearance of the Slitterheads.

Bodiless “Hyoki” Exposes the Demons Nesting in the Red Light District
The entity called “Hyoki” finds himself wandering amidst the chaos of Kowlong, plagued by the enigmatic monsters known as “Slitterheads” which mimic humans. Though bereft of all memories, he holds one resolute intention: to eradicate every last Slitterhead. Infiltrating the city, he sets out on a mission to hunt down the Slitterheads masquerading within human society.

    Possession-based High Speed Action
Devoid of physical form, Hyoki’s ability allows him to possess and control human bodies at will, turning the people wandering the city into his pawns. With this power he can slip through barriers, assume the identity of specific individuals, and infiltrate dangerous areas and organizations. By rapidly switching hosts, he can also traverse the city at high speed.

Thrilling Combat Using the Power of Blood
While human bodies are fragile, Hyoki can burn their life force, turning blood into weapons to confront the ferocious Slitterheads. Even when critically wounded, he can continue fighting by switching hosts efficiently. By possessing “Rarities”, specific humans who share high sync with Hyoki, he is able to unleash even more powerful attacks and activate various abilities. The cooperative relationship with these “Rarities” holds the key to uncovering the deepening mysteries in the city of Kowlong.
