Sony Reportedly Set to Announce LEGO Horizon Adventures for PS5 and PC This Week

Sony will announce LEGO Horizon Adventures for PlayStation 5 and PC this week during Summer Game Fest, according to a new report.

Dealabs’ reliable leaker Billbil-kun, who this week also reported that Sony has a PC version of The Last of Us 2 up its sleeve, said LEGO Horizon Adventures will see a simultaneous release on PS5 and PC. It’s described as an action adventure game with solo and cross-platform co-op gameplay.

An announcement is reportedly set for June 8 CET, which coincides with the June 7 PT kick-off of Summer Game Fest. A gameplay trailer is expected, but so far there is no word on a release date.

A simultaneous release on PS5 and PC for LEGO Horizon Adventures would follow the same strategy Sony employed for smash hit Helldivers 2 earlier this year, and for the upcoming live service shooter Concord. Sony has insisted it still plans to release its triple-A single-player showcase video games on PlayStation consoles first before coming to PC, but it’s clear the company is leaning more into a multiplatform strategy as the PS5 enters the latter stage of its lifecycle.

It’s also worth noting that it’s likely that LEGO Horizon Adventures on PC will require a PlayStation Network account to work, as is now the case for all PlayStation games that launch on PC. This controversial policy was U-turned for Helldivers 2 but means people in a number of countries in which PSN is unavailable are not able to buy PlayStation games on PC.

Sony is yet to comment on the LEGO Horizon Adventures rumor (IGN has asked for comment), but assuming it’s true we don’t have long to learn more. Insider Gaming had reported that LEGO Horizon Adventures is “essentially Horizon Forbidden West but Lego”, with “realistic graphics.” While a LEGO Horizon video game may sound like an odd choice, the two brands have collaborated before on LEGO sets based on Guerrilla’s post-apocalyptic franchise.

Sony has a quiet year ahead for first-party PlayStation games, and has ruled out sequels in its major franchises such as Spider-Man and God of War until at least April 2025. But it still has a number of key games set to release over the next 12 months, including the aforementioned Concord, the eye-catching Astrobot, and potentially LEGO Horizon Adventures.

In February, Sony announced a significant round of layoffs affecting around 900 staff, or about 8% of its global PlayStation workforce. The layoffs affect a number of PlayStation studios, including Insomniac, Naughty Dog, Guerrilla, Firesprite, and, most significantly, PlayStation’s London studio. Alongside the layoffs, a number of in-development games were canceled.
