Star Wars Jedi Survivor has a new update that makes accessibility focused improvements.
Patch 8, out today, January 11 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, introduces two new features and several improvements to slow motion in order to make the game more accessible, developer Respawn said.
The patch adds a new high-contrast mode that lets players desaturate the environment and use colors specifically for narrative and gameplay elements, making them stand out more.
Elsewhere, a new audio ping functionality lets players both passively and actively ping the environment, giving the ability to echolocate objects and interactable elements nearby.
As for slow motion, the update adds more presets that let players toggle between both their own custom value and three new presets. The presets are set at 30%, 50%, and 75%, and are available through the shortcut menu.
“This will allow users to switch between multiple different slow motion values, and not just the custom value and the default game speed,” Respawn said. And finally, the patch also incorporates some fixes for performance and stability across all platforms.
“We’re so grateful for the feedback you’ve provided and pleased with the refinements we’ve been able to bring to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor thus far,” Respawn said. “Of course, our team is always eager to learn more about our players’ needs, so don’t hesitate to let us know if you run into any additional issues.”

Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order launched in 2019 to critical and commercial acclaim, with more than 20 million players and over 10 million copies sold. It spawned a sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which launched in April 2023.
The series stars young Jedi Cal Kestis who fights against the Galactic Empire in a story set in the years after Star Wars: Episode 3 – Revenge of the Sith. In September, Cal Kestis actor Cameron Monaghan discussed the unannounced but inevitable Star Wars Jedi 3.
“We’re working on the third,” Monaghan said. “We’re in the process of doing it right now. That’s a big undertaking and there have been some conversations so far. Hopefully when all things are said and done we’ll be able to go in and make something really cool for you guys again.”
Before leaving developer Respawn, former series’ director Stig Asmussen said he viewed Star Wars Jedi as a trilogy.
“I always wanted to see this as a trilogy,” he told IGN in March. “How can we take Cal and the crew to new places beyond what we were doing in the first game? We had a pretty decent idea of timeframe where we wanted Survivor to take place, what the stakes were going to be, what the tone of the game was going to be, what Cal was going to be up against, and how the crew was going to factor into that. And there’s ideas of what we could do beyond that as well.”
Asmussen left EA on a high note, however, with IGN’s Jedi Survivor review praising his team’s efforts.
“It’s a sequel that does virtually everything better than the original – which was already an exceptional Star Wars game,” we wrote. “If Respawn makes one more like this it’ll complete the best Star Wars trilogy in 30 years, hands down.”
