Steam has updated its privacy settings to allow users to hide certain games from their profiles if they wish.
Revealed in a blog post, the Private Games feature has been implemented as a way to increase privacy and allow Steam users to hide a game from anyone but themselves from the moment it enters their cart. Setting a game as private would therefore hide a user’s ownership, in-game status, playtime, and activity in that game.
“This additional control allows you to keep most of your Steam Library visible to your friends, so they can see what you are playing and join in, yet also keep a few of those games just to yourself,” Valve said in the post.
Players can mark games as private in their shopping cart by choosing “For my account: private”, or in their game list or Steam Client Library.
Valve made some other changes to the shopping cart too, though only for those signed up to the Steam Client Beta.
Players can now purchase gifts for multiple friends and themselves in one purchase with Inline gifting and shopping carts have now been synced across all devices. Once these features are fully tested in beta, Valve will likely release them for everyone.
