NIS America has announced The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak launches summer 2024 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
Trails through Daybreak follows a new cast of characters in the Trails series within the region of Calvard. In the aftermath of a brief war, the area is experiencing a period of economic prosperity. The main protagonist is a spriggan named Van Arkride. As a sort of freelancer and mercenary of sorts, he takes on various requests as a detective, negotiator, and sometimes a bounty hunter.
One day, he receives a unique request that eventually leads him on a path to change his and Calvard’s fate forever. Daybreak also features an evolution of Trails’ traditional turn-based battle system, which is now a mix of real-time and turn-based combat called the Action Time Battle system.
There’s also a new Alignment system that changes how the story unfolds. Van’s choices and actions can fall between the realms of Law, Chaos, and everything in between. They impact who allies with or goes against Van, his influence in Calvard, as well as what jobs and dialogue options are available.
Additionally, publisher NISA will also bring The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 3 and 4 to PS5 in early 2024. The games are available now on PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak is a new saga in the Trails series following this year’s international release of The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie. The events culminated in an ending for the Erebonian arc that includes the Cold Steel saga, the Crossbell duology, and the Sky trilogy.
Trails through Daybreak is known in Japan as Kuro no Kiseki and was released in September 2021. A sequel, Kuro no Kiseki 2: Crimson Sin, launched in September 2022 in Japan. A localization for the follow up has yet to be announced.
