Don’t buy the coveted $80 Baldur’s Gate 3 Deluxe Edition from scalpers online, developer Larian has told fans — there’s plenty of stock to go around.
Scalpers are currently selling confirmed preorders of the Deluxe Edition for hundreds of dollars on auction sites such as eBay.
“Just for your information, the Deluxe Edition is not a limited edition and stock is holding steady, with more waves being prepared within the first quarter of 2024 shipping window, so if you see them online being resold based on confirmed preorders at higher prices, skip it,” Michael Douse, Larien’s director of publishing, said on X/Twitter. “There won’t be stock scarcity.”
He added: “We confirmed a minimum order but we already blitzed past that in the first day, and the first quarter shipping date allows us to simply increase wave sizes without jeapordizing the shipping date so we [don’t] expect any issues within that four-month buffer window. Weirdly organise, considering it’s us.”

While the Deluxe Edition of Baldur’s Gate 3 is available to preorder, the coveted Baldur’s Gate 3’s Collector’s Edition is sold out, and it’s currently up on eBay with a huge markup. Some listings are selling it for thousands of dollars.
Baldur’s Gate 3’s long-awaited physical edition is set for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X in the first quarter of 2024. The Deluxe Edition is playable-on-disc, although it’ll take a few discs to support such a chonky game. The PS5 version comes on two discs, while the Xbox version comes on a whopping three discs (although it won’t be the first Xbox Series X game to come on three discs). The PC version, meanwhile, hosts a custom installer and comes with a Steam key.
“This experiment is what we feel the future of physical media looks like, at least for us at Larian,” Douse said in a statement issued with the announcement. “We spent the last few months learning how to do it from scratch, and put everything we learned from the Collector’s Edition into what we hope is unbeatable value for what we’re considering our standard physical version going forward. If it works out, we’ll keep doing it this way.
“We understand the value of physical media, and while there are clearly increasingly significant challenges when it comes to the archiving of games, we truly believe it’s worth experimenting, even if it means a fuck ton of discs.”
It’s only the latest piece of Baldur’s Gate 3 news to drop recently as Larian enjoys a victory lap, with seven wins at the recent Golden Joysticks and eight nominations at the upcoming Game Awards. Larian is set to announce Baldur’s Gate 3’s similarly long-awaited Xbox release date at the Game Awards on December 7. Larian has even started to tease its “next big game”.
Baldur’s Gate 3, of course, has been a massive commercial and critical success since its official release on PC in August. IGN gave it a 10/10, praising its “crunchy, tactical RPG combat, a memorable story with complex characters, highly polished cinematic presentation, and a world that always rewards exploration and creativity.”
