Valve Reveals Time When Steam Deck OLED Will be Available to Purchase on November 16

Valve has revealed the time when fans can expect to purchase the Steam Deck OLED, which was recently announced for a November 16 release. The announcement came with a renewed promise to combat bots and resellers, which have been an ongoing concern amid major releases like this one.

Steam Deck OLED 512GB and 1TB models will be available for sale on November 16th, 10AM PST in the US, Canada, UK, and EU on Steam (and in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong via Komodo).

In a post on X/Twitter, Valve confirmed that the Steam Deck OLED will go on sale on November 16 at 10am PT, and will only be available in the U.S. and Canada. Valve also announced that it will take steps to limit bots and resellers seeking to profit from its Limited Edition model, which will be sold in limited quantities.

    • You need to be in the United States or Canada
    • Your account needs to be in good standing
    • Your account needs to have made a purchase on Steam before November 2023
    • Only one unit may be purchased per account

“We see the Limited Edition model as an experiment (both in terms of learning how to pull it off, as well as gauging customer demand). We’re hopeful that people are excited about this release, and if we see high demand it will give us confidence to do more colorways in the future,” Valve said.

All Steam Deck OLED versions will feature enhanced OLED displays, better audio, and an estimated 30 percent to 50 percent battery life improvement over the launch version. It will be available in 512GB and 1TB configurations, which will cost $549 and $649 respectively. The original LCD model, meanwhile, will see its price reduced as Valve seeks to clear inventory. Here are the new prices for the LCD models.

    • 64GB Model – $349 (Previously $399)
    • 256GB Model – $399 (Previously $529)
    • 512GB – $449 (Previously $649)

We wrote in our Steam Deck OLED review, “The Steam Deck OLED brings a fantastic, vibrant screen to Valve’s handheld gaming PC, but its most impressive upgrade is the much-improved battery life. Combined with all its other small but altogether significant improvements, not to mention more storage at the same price, and it’s enough to tempt even current Steam Deck owners into upgrading.”

For more, check out our full interview with Valve on how the Steam Deck OLED came together.
