While Street Fighter 6<\/a> is a hit with fans of Capcom\u2019s famous fighting game series, its monetisation has caused an uproar. The latest offender is the hotly anticipated Outfit 3 release, which gives each of the 18 launch characters an eye-catching new costume to wear.<\/p>\n

Each Outfit 3 is available for 300 Fighter Coins (Street Fighter 6\u2019s premium currency) and includes all 10 available colours. Unlike Outfit 2, Outfit 3 is only available for purchase with real-world money and cannot be unlocked via World Tour mode.<\/p>\n

The problem here is that Capcom only sells Fighter Coins in bundles of 250 for \u00a33.99 \/ $4.99, 610 for \u00a39.49 \/ $11.99, 1,250 for \u00a318.99 \/ $23.99, and 2,750 for \u00a339.99 \/ $49.99. This means there\u2019s no way to buy 300 Fighter Coins, or spend around $6, on one Outfit 3. You have to spend around $10 or more, depending on the bundle you go for.<\/p>\n

Perhaps worse, Capcom is not selling an Outfit 3 bundle that includes some or all the costumes at a discounted price. That means if you want to buy all Outfit 3 costumes for all 18 launch characters, you\u2019ll need 5,400 Fighter Coins, which will set you back an eye-watering \u00a380 \/ $100 (2,750 Fighter Coins x 2). That\u2019s much more expensive than Street Fighter 6 itself.<\/p>\n

As you\u2019d expect, the Street Fighter community is in uproar over the cost of these outfits. One thread<\/a> on the Street Fighter subreddit, titled, \u201cDo not buy the costumes,\u201d calls for a boycott. \u201cCapcom can’t be allowed to have that slide and get the win,\u201d redditor Soul699 said. \u201cBecause otherwise it will get worse in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cSure, Mortal Kombat is doing worse, but that doesn’t change it’s still bad. I know a lot of people won’t care, and will keep feeding the corporations because they just gave up and submitted, but if you want to do something smart, do not buy the costumes. I know they’re mostly great looking, but resist. Do not let Capcom get away so easily.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another thread<\/a> called the monetisation \u201cinsane for a $60 game\u201d. \u201cYep, it\u2019s sucks that they did the \u2018outfit costs 300 but there is no 300 coin option\u2019,\u201d redditor Vahallen added. \u201cIt\u2019s not a new practice, but it does suck.\u201d<\/p>\n
