Its logo now solely depicts the letter R, or is sometimes styled with &#8220;Remedy&#8221; underneath, which Take-Two seemingly believes is too similar to Rockstar&#8217;s own R logo.<\/p>\n<p>The UK government&#8217;s website lists both logos, available <a href=\"https:\/\/trademarks.ipo.gov.uk\/ipo-tmcase\/page\/Results\/1\/UK00003910520\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/trademarks.ipo.gov.uk\/ipo-tmcase\/page\/Results\/1\/UK00003910498\">here<\/a>, as opposed, with Take-Two named as the opponent.<\/p>\n<section data-transform=\"image-with-caption\" data-image-url=\"https:\/\/assets-prd.ignimgs.com\/2024\/01\/16\/remedy-1705412468495.jpg\" data-image-title=\"The Remedy Entertainment (left) and Rockstar Games (right) logos.\" data-image-class=\"article-image-full-size\" data-image-link=\"https:\/\/assets-prd.ignimgs.com\/2024\/01\/16\/remedy-1705412468495.jpg\" data-caption=\"The%20Remedy%20Entertainment%20(left)%20and%20Rockstar%20Games%20(right)%20logos.\"><\/section>\n<\/section>\n<p>Remedy&#8217;s new logo was unveiled in April 2023 as a &#8220;refreshed visual identity&#8221; following its departure from being a developer known for just one game. The previous logo referenced the studio&#8217;s first franchise Max Payne with a bullet, but Remedy has since developed the Alan Wake and Control franchises.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The bullet in the letter R in the old logo represented the era of Max Payne, but the Remedy of now is much bigger than a single game; we have a whole portfolio of games, new and old,&#8221; it said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.remedygames.com\/article\/a-fresh-and-refined-look-for-remedy-entertainment\">blog post<\/a>. &#8220;It was time to update and redefine our visual identity to bring more consistency, showcase our evolution over the years, and better express our vision of today\u2019s Remedy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>IGN has asked both Take-Two and Remedy for comment.<\/p>\n<section data-transform=\"slideshow\" data-slug=\"every-ign-rockstar-game-review-ever\" data-value=\"every-ign-rockstar-game-review-ever\" data-type=\"slug\" data-caption=\"\"><\/section>\n<p>What makes this trademark dispute even more bizarre is the fact Remedy and Rockstar Games are working together on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/max-payne-remake-remedy-rockstar-ps5-pc-xbox\">the Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne remakes<\/a>. The two parties signed a new publishing agreement back in 2022 to remake the first two Max Payne games for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, with Remedy handling development and Rockstar financing the project.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside its continued support for the decade old Grand Theft Auto 5, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/gta-6-rockstar-officially-unveils-first-trailer-early-after-leak\">Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto 6 in December 2023<\/a>. The game isn&#8217;t due out until 2025, but that hasn&#8217;t stopped fans (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/gta-6-everything-we-know-map-locations\">including us<\/a>) obsessing over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/were-now-at-the-bullet-holes-and-braille-stage-of-gta-6-fan-theory\">every detail of the trailer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As for Remedy, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/remedy-announces-control-2-for-playstation-5-xbox-series-and-pc\">the studio is currently working on several games in the Control franchise<\/a> after releasing its psychological horror adventure Alan Wake 2 in October 2023. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/alan-wake-ii-review\">In our 9\/10 review of that one<\/a>, IGN said: &#8220;Alan Wake 2 is a superb survival horror sequel that makes the cult-classic original seem like little more than a rough first draft by comparison.&#8221;<\/p>\n<section data-transform=\"divider\"><\/section>\n<p><em>Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter.
