After the Helldivers 2<\/a> community had rounded on farmers for negatively impacting the game\u2019s galaxy-wide war<\/a> against alien bugs and bots, developer Arrowhead has clarified their traitorous actions are in fact harmless.<\/p>\n

<\/section>\n

On the Helldivers Discord, Arrowhead staff member Evil-Bosse had said players who leave operations halfway through count as a loss for Super Earth, and thus negatively impact that planet\u2019s \u201cliberation\u201d status. In Helldivers 2, players work to complete operations on planets, which in turn contribute positively to the grind to control sectors of the galaxy.<\/p>\n

This was important because farmers, that is, players who play quickfire missions to efficiently farm for resources then reset the operation before it\u2019s complete to rinse and repeat, were being criticized for putting Super Earth\u2019s battle to supremacy under threat.<\/p>\n

<\/section>\n

But Arrowhead has now clarified that leaving an operation before it\u2019s complete has no impact either way. \u201cI can confirm that abandoning an operation does not progress the enemy’s percentage, so people who leave operations do not negatively affect a planet,\u201d AHGS_Misty said in a post on Reddit<\/a>. \u201cUnfortunately Evil-Bosse got it wrong, but we all make mistakes!\u201d<\/p>\n

Evil-Bosse followed this up with a comment of their own: \u201cCan confirm, I was accidentally spreading false information, you have my humble apologies.\u201d<\/p>\n

With this in mind, Helldivers 2 farmers can continue to efficiently hunt for resources guilt free, but with the knowledge that while they’re not actively harming the war effort, they’re not helping either. This comes just as Helldivers 2\u2019s meta narrative hots up, with players encounter surprising twists and turns that impact gameplay. Only this week, players found they were locked out of playing on the much-loved Malevelon Creek planet, dubbed \u2018Space Vietnam\u2019 by the community, after it fell to the Automatons<\/a>. Malevelon Creek suffered a \u2018Planet Lost\u2019 retreat order, making it inaccessible. Thankfully, this was short-lived, as it is now playable once again, albeit with Super Earth having plenty of work to do to liberate it.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the ongoing Major Order, which requires the community to collectively win eight defend campaigns against the Automatons, looks dangerously close to failing. Two more defend campaigns must be won with just one day left on the timer. What happens if Super Earth fails? Perhaps we\u2019ll find out.<\/p>\n

Now Arrowhead appears to have sorted out Helldivers 2\u2019s server issues, it has time to return to its original post-launch plan, so hopefully we\u2019ll get an idea of what to expect in terms of new content soon.
