Baldur\u2019s Gate 3<\/a> developer Larian has detailed Patch 7, the next big update coming to the sprawling Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game.<\/p>\n

In a post on the Baldur\u2019s Gate 3 Steam page<\/a>, Larian offered a sneak peek at the improved evil endings coming to the game with Patch 7. These will offer \u201ceven darker conclusions to your most sinister playthroughs, and yes, that includes you non-Durge players,\u201d Larian said.<\/p>\n

There are two teasers for these new cinematic cutscenes, which have also been given the musical treatment<\/a> by Larian\u2019s BAFTA award-winning composer, Borislav Slavov.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Patch 7 aims to fix several bugs, including Jaheira\u2019s \u201cunwillingness to follow the group and jump into combat, Wyll\u2019s less-than-romantic greetings, as well as the mysteriously disappearing Narrator lines from the Gortash and Dark Urge confrontation, to name a few.\u201d<\/p>\n

This next patch will also begin introducing Larian\u2019s official modding tools, \u201cletting you change up visuals, animations, sounds, stats, and more to overhaul Baldur\u2019s Gate 3 into the weird nightmare realm of your dreams,\u201d Larian said.<\/p>\n

While Patch 7 will be the last Baldur\u2019s Gate 3 update to add story content, Larian said that after it\u2019s out the studio will continue focusing on bug fixes, performance enhancements, and stability improvements. It\u2019s also actively working on bringing crossplay and a photo mode to Baldur\u2019s Gate 3. But, on those latter two features, \u201cthe work required to bring these to you means that these additions will likely be further down the road.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if we\u2019re going to pull it off, but looking at our narrative, visual and gameplay plans, I think what we\u2019re working on now will be our best work ever.<\/section>\n

Larian has already confirmed it won’t introduce any major new narrative content to the story of Baldur’s Gate 3 or its origin characters and companions, nor will it make expansions or Baldur\u2019s Gate 4<\/a>. Instead, it\u2019s working on two brand new projects based on its own intellectual properties, although it has yet to say what these will be.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s still early days – we\u2019ll tell you more about those later down the line,\u201d Larian said. \u201cBut know that even as our focus turns to these new games, the sensibilities that brought you Baldur\u2019s Gate 3 are alive and well here at the Larian castle. We\u2019re fueled by the very same fire in our bellies, one that drives us to create immersive experiences shaped by your choices, and we can\u2019t wait for you to join us on this next adventure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Larian then offered a comment from boss Swen Vincke for anyone worried about Larian\u2019s change of direction:<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if we\u2019re going to pull it off, but looking at our narrative, visual and gameplay plans, I think what we\u2019re working on now will be our best work ever. I get excited like a kid watching the key imagery, want to show it to everyone now and grumble in frustration at having to wait until it\u2019s actually all working. Yes, it\u2019s hype but it\u2019s hype because it really looks and feels good.\u201d<\/p>\n
