Thank you for loving him all these many years, and when you see a rainbow, know he\u2019s smiling down at us all.\u201d \u2013 The Family of Kris Kristofferson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe family asks for privacy during this time.\u201d<\/p>\n<section data-transform=\"image-with-caption\" data-image-url=\"https:\/\/assets-prd.ignimgs.com\/2024\/09\/30\/gettyimages-1160714855-1727683553644.jpg\" data-image-title=\"null\" data-image-class=\"article-image-full-size\" data-image-link=\"https:\/\/assets-prd.ignimgs.com\/2024\/09\/30\/gettyimages-1160714855-1727683553644.jpg\" data-caption=\"Photo%20by%20Dave%20J%20Hogan%2FGetty%20Images.\"><\/section>\n<\/section>\n<p>Aside from his wildly successful music career which began in the late 1960s, Kristofferson starred in a number of Hollywood films, including Martin Scorsese\u2019s 1974 romantic comedy drama Alice Doesn\u2019t Live Here Anymore, and with Barbra Streisand in 1976 musical romantic drama A Star Is Born.<\/p>\n<p>Later, Kristofferson played Abraham Whistler in Marvel\u2019s Blade film trilogy alongside Wesley Snipes, Karubi in 2001\u2019s Planet of the Apes, and, in his final role, Edwin Fuller in Ethan Hawke\u2019s 2018 biographical drama film based on the life of country musician Blaze Foley.<\/p>\n<p>Guillermo del Toro, who directed 2002&#8217;s Blade 2, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RealGDT\/status\/1840624945694462287\">tweeted<\/a> to say Kristofferson was &#8220;a true and tried humanist and a stand up fella. Principled, funny and absolutely no-nonsense. Our brief and intense time on Blade 2 was full of lessons to be learned. What a gent! What a great writer. What a great actor. What a great friend.
