It had brown feathers and a red chest \u2013 it gleamed against the sky\u2026Then I heard the gun shot\u2026Seeing the way they treated this innocent, beautiful thing. I snapped\u2026I\u2019m what the COI made me. And I\u2019m not going back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is an abridged version of the first words you\u2019ll hear playing <em>I Am Your Beast<\/em>, spoken by the main character, Alphonse Harding. Harding is a retired Covert Operations Initiative (COI) agent, burnt out after years of \u201cone more job\u201d too many. So, when the COI surrounds his home in the forest and offers him another \u201cone last job\u201d, Harding decides to hand in his notice. From guns, to bear traps, to beehives, there are plenty of ways to use your environment to get to the end of the level. At that end, you\u2019ll find a score and rank, so if you\u2019re into speedrunning, or just getting the best times you can, you\u2019ll probably end up going back to these levels a few times!<\/p>\n<p><em>I Am Your Beast<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0comes complete with all the free extra content we released. This includes the story expansion Support Group, where a group of COI Agents sit and retell the fantastical sounding tale of what happened to them in the main game at the hands of a seemingly superhuman Harding. The second, Cold Sweat is a no\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 story, all challenge, all weird set of challenges. It\u2019s our love letter to the speedrunners who have latched on to <em>I Am Your Beast<\/em>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-fullsize\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1900\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/xboxwire.thesourcemediaassets.com\/sites\/2\/2025\/06\/3-efc78438d1217255cc13-1900x1080.jpg\" alt=\"I am your beast screnshot\" class=\"wp-image-210038\"><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tyrants Better Run<\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019re looking to speedrun, enjoy the fully voice acted, funny, intense, touching and slick story or enjoy an FPS that can be played in short bursts over more than 20\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0levels, <em>I Am Your Beast<\/em> is for you. Oh and I nearly forgot the soundtrack! Let me tell you, the soundtrack is, to borrow a term from the internet, \u201ca banger\u201d. If it was in the Eurovision Song Contest, I\u2019d give it 12 points. (That\u2019s the most points you can give one song, it\u2019s not important to know that for the game, but it\u2019s good to learn new things.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want players to come away feeling cool\u201d says Dan Pearce, Lead Developer on <em>I Am Your Beast<\/em>. \u201cThe experience we really wanted to create, and having a structure of short levels with timers running helps create this, is that we really wanted to push the player to a place where high skill play always results in you having this action sequence. You\u2019re throwing a gun, you\u2019re catching a gun, you\u2019re stomping\u2026\u201d and all of this leads to a sense that you\u2019ve just been through one of the best action scenes you\u2019ve seen, and you didn\u2019t just watch it, you created it!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe feeling of discovery\u2026is a large part of what makes games like this so interesting. You\u2019re not just playing it once and forgetting, we added a lot of elements for replay ability\u201d says Jim Brown, Level Designer on the game. \u201cPlayers finding the secret things we have in the world, creating their own challenges and discovering their own ways to play\u201d are something they take a lot of pride in. \u201cThe fun part is playing around and figuring it out.\u201d <em>I Am Your Beast<\/em> features a score system, and you get a rank at the end of each mini-sandbox level. Getting an S Rank will mean finding all the paths and different ways you can take out enemies.<\/p>\n<p>I asked both to describe <em>I Am Your Beast<\/em> in one word.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Jim went with \u201cDynamic. The ways you move around this environment is not static, it\u2019s not set in stone. When you\u2019re getting a good run down, it makes you feel like a dog tearing apart \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0someone\u2019s homework. Visceral is the closest word I can find to that experience.
