The game is split into 2 teams, the Counter Terrorists and the Terrorists. The game is an FPS, based on the Half-Life 2 engine.
The Terrorists have to run to 1 of 2 locations on a map and plant a bomb. The Counter Terrorists have to stop this by either killing all the Terrorists before they get chance to plant it, or by defusing the bomb if it's successfully planted. Some maps also flip the roles round, where the Counter Terrorists must save the hostages.
At the start of the game both teams have the options to buy weapons such as rifles and grenades which cost money. Any team member who is still alive at the end of the round will carry these weapons over into the next one.
