The prospect of the celebrated XCOM team, Firaxis, making a Marvel-themed superhero strategy game is mouthwatering. Pairing a team of that talent with a licence of that appeal is inspired. All you have to do is substitute in superheroes, don’t you?But what if it’s not so simple working with Marvel? That is a world-conquering entertainment brand that would have every right to be precious about its heroes and intellectual property. And what if the XCOM formula didn’t actually work very well with superheroes? Which self-respecting superhero would take cover in a battle, after all? These are some of the many things…
At tonight’s Summer Game Fest, we got a look at upcoming indie game Highwater from publisher Rogue Games and developer Demagog .It is a colourful and playfully chunky looking strategy game, but one with a somber undertone. As the name suggests, it focuses on a world ravaged by the effects of global warming and the resulting high water levels. It also features a city called Alphaville, so yes, while I am writing this up, I am also singing Big in Japan. Here is the trailer for you to enjoy yourself. Brand new space horror game Fort Solis was announced at the Summer Game Fest. Troy Baker (The Last of Us) and Roger Clark (Red Dead Redemption 2) will star in leading roles, with development by European studio Fallen Leaf. Last night I was shown a pre-recorded presentation in which various developers at Infinity Ward spoke enthusiastically about this year’s upcoming shooter Modern Warfare 2 and the various changes it makes to 2019’s largely successful Modern Warfare soft reboot. I can’t bring you hands-on impressions of the multiplayer, unfortunately (with the lifting of this evening’s embargo there will be plenty of videos featuring multiplayer impressions for you to check out), but I can write about something Infinity Ward repeatedly discussed during its presentation: its fancy new water tech. We’ve been here before. I remember flying to the US to preview…
The PC version of Call of Duty returns to Steam five years after ditching the platform in favour of Blizzard’s Battle.net. Activision today confirmed Infinity Ward’s upcoming shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will release on Steam as well as Battle.net when it comes out on 28th October. It marks the return of the shooter franchise to Valve’s platform five years after Sledgehammer’s Call of Duty: WW2 came out in November 2017. That game went down as the last new PC Call of Duty to appear on Steam, with all subsequent mainline games (Black Ops 4, Modern Warfare, Black…
Following its unveiling back in March, developer ClockStone, the studio behind the popular Bridge Constructor series, has shared 16 minutes of gameplay from its upcoming diorama-based construction puzzler Lego Bricktales. Lego Bricktales tasks players with traversing five gorgeous, brick-based dioramas – a lush jungle, sun-drenched desert, bustling city corner, medieval castle, and tropical island – as they undertake various quests and puzzles dished out by NPCs to help their grandfather reinvigorate his rundown amusement park. Bricktales’ core puzzling is based around a brick-by-brick building mechanic that encourages players to find a solution to the task at hand by constructing something…
There’s something to be said for those reliable developers that maybe aren’t producing the biggest AAA bangers but consistently produce solid, technically impressive games. Such is the case with Next Level Games and its latest release on Switch – Mario Strikers: Battle League. It’s a return to the series that helped forge the studio’s relationship with Nintendo but also a fantastic and fun football game that caters more to fans of NBA Jam rather than FIFA Soccer. It’s arcade style action that crucially aims for smooth performance and sharp image quality at a time when fewer Switch games manage can…
Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is due for release on 24th June, but a free demo of the game is now playable. Set in the world of Fódlan and featuring the same cast of characters as Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Three Hopes is an action musou take on the game. That means battles against hundreds of enemies and a big cast of characters to play as, depending on the house you choose. News of the demo comes alongside a new trailer featuring a fresh look at gameplay. Read more Source – eurogamer.net All content and images belong to their respected…
Some players are finding themselves unable to access EA games on PlayStation and Xbox if their console accounts are tied to an EA account with an expired password. The problem centres around the fact that many players created EA accounts in the distant past – for one reader who got in contact, it was over a decade ago – and tied it to an email address that has long since been shut down. For anyone with a now-abandoned school or work email, it’s a similar story. Now, when EA’s account system asks for a password reset, it can only send…
