The spark for this game did not originate from a market spreadsheet, but from the community. For years, across forums and social media, a dedicated audience of players asked a recurring question: “Why has no one made a spiritual successor to Sid Meier’s SimGolf?” Having grown up playing those classics, the team at Broken Arms Games felt that same void and decided it was time to return to the fairway—not to build a time machine, but to evolve the genre.

When designing Under Par Golf Architect, the goal was not to replicate the technical limitations of the early 2000s. Instead, the focus remained on capturing the nostalgia. The development process was dedicated to bottling that specific feeling of joy experienced when a digital golfer sinks a perfect putt on a hole designed by the player.

These elements serve as an emotional bridge to the past while anchoring a modern gameplay loop.

Accessibility at the Fingertips
One of the primary challenges in bringing a “builder” game to consoles is the control scheme. Too often, ports attempt to mimic a mouse with an analog stick, leading to a frustrating experience.
