At Outright Games, we’ve had the opportunity to work closely with Hasbro to bring some of their most loved family games into Hasbro Games Junior Collection. Bringing together Clue Junior, Monopoly Junior and The Game of Life Junior, the collection offers a new way for families to enjoy game night together while staying true to what makes the magic of these games so memorable.
One of the games we’ve been particularly excited to bring to life is Clue Junior. We wanted to capture the familiar detective fantasy of Clue while creating an experience that feels accessible and engaging for younger players. From searching rooms and uncovering clues to making deductions and solving the case, every part of the experience is designed to put players in the role of a junior detective.
In this first look for the XBOX community, we’d love to take you inside Clue Junior and share more about how we approached bringing this classic mystery to life.
Something suspicious is happening in Clue Junior, and it’s up to players to work out exactly what’s going on. As the game begins, players gather around the board, with every character potentially becoming part of the mystery.
We wanted the game to immediately establish that sense of playful suspicion. Players can move around the board and explore different rooms, searching for clues that could help them piece together what has happened.
As players investigate, they’ll uncover hidden clues and gather information that can help narrow down the possibilities. Finding a clue should feel like a discovery, even if you’re not immediately sure what it means. Every piece of information could be the one that brings you closer to solving the case.
We also wanted the investigation to be easy to understand, allowing players to focus on the mystery rather than complicated mechanics. The digital experience keeps the gameplay accessible while still giving players plenty of opportunities to put their detective skills to the test.
Of course, being a good detective means keeping track of what you’ve already discovered. Players can use their detective notebook to record their deductions, crossing off suspects and possibilities as they gather more information.
The notebook also introduces a fun social element to the experience. When one player opens their detective notes, everyone else needs to look away – no peeking!
As the investigation continues, players can connect the clues they’ve discovered and eliminate the possibilities that no longer fit. The more information you uncover, the clearer the mystery becomes – although there’s always the chance that another player has spotted something you’ve missed.
Eventually, every detective has to make a decision. When players think they’ve worked out the answer, they can make their accusation and put their detective skills to the test. This is where all those clues, deductions and carefully kept notes finally come together.
Making the right accusation is the moment everything has been building towards. When the solution is revealed, players can see whether their investigation has paid off and, if they’ve got it right, celebrate cracking the case.
But solving the mystery isn’t the only reward. Players can also track their stats, level up and unlock new items as they continue playing, giving them plenty of reasons to return for another round.
For us, Clue Junior is all about recreating the fun of a family board game night in a digital format. Alongside Monopoly Junior and The Game of Life Junior, it forms part of Hasbro Games Junior Collection, bringing three familiar family favourites together in one package.
We’re excited for XBOX players to step into the mystery, put their detective skills to the test and see if they can crack the case when Hasbro Games Junior Collection launches later this year.
