In Screamer, five rival teams clash in the biggest-ever illegal street-racing tournament. But racing is just one piece of the puzzle. Cinematic anime-style cutscenes crafted by our friends at Polygon Pictures, along with JRPG-inspired dialogue featuring international actors such as Troy Baker and Aleks Le, will guide you through stories of greed, love, and revenge, as each team competes for its own unique reasons.

Innovative gameplay blending arcade fun with fighting mechanics

With Screamer, our goal was to capture the raw, pick-up-and-play excitement of classic arcade racing, the same spirit that defined the series’ origins, and bring it to today’s consoles. To achieve this, we designed a fast-paced gameplay experience that will keep you constantly engaged, rethinking some of the genre’s core conventions along the way. One example is the Dual Stick system, which separates steering and drifting, giving you full control of the vehicle’s handling. We also leaned into ’90s influences by blending in elements from fighting games: during races, you’ll have access to a meter-based system that fuels both offensive and defensive moves. The result is a racing experience that’s not just about pure speed, but about reading the moment, managing resources, and striking at the right time.

Strong character-driven identity

Like in fighting games, beyond the basic combat mechanics, each character has unique skills that set them apart from the rest of the roster. These abilities are closely tied to the evolution of each team’s story arc, keeping a strong connection between the narrative and what happens on the track. So don’t be surprised if you find yourself favouring some cars over others – in Screamer, everyone can discover the character that best matches their personal driving style.

Distinctive anime/cyberpunk style

In Screamer, you’ll explore four original environments infused with anime and cyberpunk vibes. Race through the neon-lit streets of Neo Rey, a futuristic megacity marked by injustice and inequality; explore Sky Road Desert, a barren wasteland that is raw and merciless; and navigate the wilds of Forest #13, an old hunting reserve for the ultra-wealthy. The fourth environment is closely tied to the story so we’ll let you discover it! Our visual style favors color, contrast, and motion over pure realism, aligning with the game’s arcade direction to make each race feel energetic and visually engaging.

Game mode variety and progression.

Screamer is packed with game modes, all available from the very start without any unlock requirements. Whether you like competing solo or as a team, we’ve got you covered with a variety of options, from classic racing modes to original experiences that take full advantage of Screamer’s unique mix. The progression system is also designed to give you as much freedom as possible. You won’t have to play the campaign to get new content, but you can unlock it by playing any game mode. By completing events, you’ll be rewarded with cosmetic items to customize liveries and car parts, as well as new cutscenes, artworks, and additional characters to enrich your Screamer journey.
