Sea of Thieves’ 19th Season, Fights and Festivals, launches today and we’ve wasted no time diving into the first of our planned extravaganzas – celebrating the game’s 8th Anniversary! Naturally, everyone’s invited to come and join the fun, and there are plenty of treats on offer for those who do.
Taking part is easier than ever thanks to a Free Play Weekend beginning at 15:00 UTC today, March 19, and lasting until 20:00 UTC March 24, during which time the game will be free to install and enjoy on Xbox – the perfect opportunity to set sail on your Maiden Voyage or, if you’re a practiced pirate, to welcome some friends aboard as new crewmates. Setting sail from now until March 30 will award all players with the Golden Sailor Figurehead, too.
There’s yet more swag to be swiped for a limited time, as the Lustrous Legend Eye of Reach takes its place as an Xbox Game Pass in-game benefit, while Microsoft Rewards users can also pick up the Lustrous Legend Flag by completing a Punch Card, which will also award bonus entries in the Microsoft Rewards Total Prize Drop that’s currently underway (terms apply). Additionally, you’ll find the Lustrous Legend Sails bundled with packs of Ancient Coins for use in the game’s Pirate Emporium.
Things amp up another level on March 27, with a Sea of Thieves Community Weekend that brings even more anniversary antics to the waves. Participation will provide players with a free flag, there’ll be boosted rewards when crews come together to increase the Community Grade, global goals offering additional prizes, the temptation of Pop-Up Plunder (so keep a weather eye on our social channels) and picture walls to pose at. And did somebody say secret, hidden cakes…?
The Community Weekend closes out on March 30, a day that will also debut our latest Community Direct. Members of the Sea of Thieves team will return to your screens, bringing boatloads of news, insights and reflections on recent updates. From discussing changes to the Insider Programme through to big reveals for Season 20, this video is a must-watch for Sea of Thieves players who want to be ahead of the game.
Before we blow out our birthday candles there’s one more date to look forward to: April 9 is when we’ll be unveiling new editions of the game packed with prime plunder, including popular cosmetics from the Pirate Emporium, bonus gold to spend and much more besides.
